text message from "Ebay"

I got a text message saying that Ebay security alert and they have notice my card was used recently on ebay for 200 dollars. Is this a phising scam? I didn't respond to the message and it told me to call them and gave me their number.

Well, was your card actually used for that exact amount? It sounds like a scam but just to be sure forward it to spoof@ebay.com I think that’s right. Someone correct me if not. Thx.

Scam.  Your instincts are good!  You can easily prove this to yourself by just checking recent transactions on your card.

Why in the world would eBay "alert" someone that something had been bought on its site, which happens a million times a day.

I don't think you'd get a text message, either. Sounds scammy to me.

Do you have an Ebay branded card? I would think any notifications from a branded credit card would come from the actual card bank, and not the branded store, but what do I know?

Google the phone number, I'm sure the results will be interesting.

Yes it is a scam and some people fall for it.  Glad you did not. Ignore it as they do not know if you even got the text, that's why the "call them back number".

I get 2 phone calls a week the my SIN has been compromised and if i don't call them back police will show up at my door and I will be arrested.   I delete the msg and block the numbers but they change them.

If someone uses your credit card fraudulently at WalMart, is is your credit card company who flags the transaction and contacts you, not WalMart.

i get those, too.  I also robocalls from from "Amazon Customer Service" to alert me that a purchase of $599.00 has been made and blah-blah...  Right.  Like any business would call me up to say:  "You just made a purchase that will bring us a fast and tidy profit, but we're calling to make sure you really want to do this..."    ðŸ˜ƒ
