recieved envelope instead of 8lb. box from buyer for return

i sold a 3d printer, buyer opens case immediately NAD, i approve return send them a pre-paid label through ebay, now i am in a multi resident facility so the management office signs and recieves all mail and packages, so the other day through ebay item shows delivered, i go to office and nothing, i describe box they look and after a few minutes they realize it was refused due to being suspicous 1st it was a little padded envelope, and my pre-paid label had been altered, the only thing on label was tracking#, no name, no return address and no unit number, now tracking on ebay site shows delivered, but on usps site shows en-route returned, (i do realize there is no return address) so?  but i am in a small town and since the package was so out of the normal my mail person remembers it and so does our management office in fact that is how i found out about the label and it being an envelope

thats the basics of what i am up against my question which i know has been talked about 1000 times is can someone please give me the protocal for fililng mail fraud and pressing charges with this buyer and what i need to do with ebay as far as proof thanks in advance for all who offers a hand

O' boy here we go again. OP, you should get lots of ideas soon how to deal with it. It is going to take a lot of legwork and eventually you need to most likely take the person to court and have him sent to jail.

Your name was not on the label anywhere???  How did it reach your Post Office?

because my address was listed, but no name, no unit number or return address and this was suppose to be a prepaid label from ebay so all that should have been on label so the buyer altered it

So, you don't know if the envelope was actually sent by the buyer or if your apt staff took the box and restuck the label on an envelope.

The US Postal Service will not deliver a package without a name on it!       (NO EXCEPTIONS)

A address is not good enough, it would've never made it past the 1st post office and would've been returned to sender.

if that was true than our mail person would have to be on it as well because they remember the envelope only because of how unusual the label was which only had the tracking and physical address no name, no return address and no unit number

If your carrier sent it back to the sender how did eBay get a delivered scan when the USPS site says "returned"

eBay and the USPS sites are syncd together, I can't see how they could be different.

Call eBay and ask the rep to pull up the USPS site to verify that your item was returned and not delivered.

You may have a very good case. If the buyer altered the mailing lable you need to get with the Post Office and see what kind of fraud charges you can file. Get online viewable case records to put in your reply to the ebay case. Your buyer could get in serious trouble. Good luck with this!

will cs actually pull up usps site i thought they might only look at theres, but that is exactly what is happening trust me i know this sounds crazy but this is exactly what is happening the only thing i can think of when she arrived at my address she scanned as "arrived" but the management refused but on ebay end once it shows arrived they dont get any more updates, i dont know just say but this is exactly what is going on

Do you know the tracking # for the return label you printed?   If so, I believe you can go to the USPS website, enter the tracking # and click the box that asks them to send you (via email) ALL info regarding that shipment.

yes i did that already actually my local post office did that yesterday for me i just am not sure how i can present that to ebay because on ebay site it shows delivered and they may force payment back to buyer of $325
