The "See full item description" button is one of the worst ideas eBay has ever implemented. I am a top rated seller and have been ever since the program was introduced. Part of what makes me a top rated seller is my big, beautiful pictures and my complete descriptions of what is included and what the condition of the item is. Now all of that is hidden and prospective buyers need to click another button to see the full description. I would be willing to bet that that button does not get clicked by over half the people that view the listing and that most of those that do not click it either do not see it or have no idea what it is for. I would also not be at all surprised if eBay sees a sharp increase in the number of item not as received cases because you are hiding the seller’s description of that item from prospective buyers. Let’s just put it in terms that management should be paying attention to: more item not as described cases means more man hours devoted to resolving these cases which in turn leads to more labor cost for eBay. Further, an increased number of item not as received cases leads to an increased number of buyers who had a bad experience on eBay and are therefore less likely to return to eBay. Less traffic leads to fewer bids which leads to lower final sales prices which leads to lower revenue for eBay from final value fees. So by hiding seller’s descriptions of the item they are selling from prospective buyers eBay is effectively raising the company's overall operating cost while lowering overall revenue.
Sellers please take a few minutes to let eBay know that you think this is a really bad idea and that it should be done away with. To by-pass all the misleading "Contact Us" links and send your message to someone who will actually read it please copy and paste the following into your browser's address window:

D-K... A reasonable thought - but I did NOT change my listings to go mobile - and I am in this horrible nightmare. I was thinking it was some form of punishment... I'd settle for breaking even - with this button - I can't even make enough to pay the store rent this month. Thanks eBay!!

Does it show like this in Google Chrome? It does not in my descriptions using Google Chrome.
I just talked to an Ebay helper, and he said that it may apply to certain browsers, as he said it does not show in Goodle Chrome.
I tried it, and no button as described.
The idea seems to be to be more copmpatible with small phones, ipads, Iphones, and so on.
But, I agree that this should not happen.
Slows down sales, I am sure.
Thanks,

Now that that's resolved (at least for now), any input on Photobucket now wanting $400.00 a year to host photos posted to third party sites, like ebay?
@poshdot - Did your listings go back to the "dark side" like mine did after they were returned to 'normal'?

On the listings I'm talking about, it showed a short description after "Description: " under the shipping charges, and then 'see more' at the end. The full regular description was also still there where it's supposed to be.
Today, I checked again, and it's gone - but you can see it flash up and then go away immediately on each listing.
I honestly have no clue as to what they are trying now.

I would be willing to bet that that button does not get clicked by over half the people that view the listing and that most of those that do not click it either do not see it or have no idea what it is for.
The more important question sellers need to contemplate: "how well is this listing likely to do when buyer doesn't click that link?"

eBay, please eliminate the "See full item description" button! Just allow the full description to appear.

And an even more important question is why the BID/BIN button appears prior to someone clicking the 'see full description' link.
This isn't a photo-only shopping site(especially for antiques) ..... as much as ebay would like it to be. An acknowledgement that the buyer may have at least glanced at the entire description would be much better. And maybe it would eliminate sellers using 9/10's of their description of useless TOS, and not a real item description.

I just started seeing it on my listings on some computers. On my wife's computer it apears but on mine it doesn't. We are both using the lastest version of chrome. But this is a terrible idea. I spent lots of money taking professional photos of the items i'm selling to better market the items. I understand if ebay wants each listing to look more streamlined but when you click on the button it doesn't unhide the description, it actually opens a new window with just the description with no way for the buyer to make a purchase. Any one else think this is backwards? if you must just hind and unhide the description. don't make the buyer go through extra step and switch between windows to make a purchase.

yes thats true but no one opens a new window with the item details only. they all hide/unhide the item description so that the potential buyer can still make a purchase from the same page without having to find the original ebay window. come on how many of us use multiple tabs when browsing, making buyers have to hunt for the window they opened the item on orginally is completely counterproductive.
