It was refurbished and i disclosed that.
I tested it via cord and it works and types. I tested it because it’s been In storage for a while and I wanted to make sure it worked before I sold it to anyone. It worked no issues, and I even typed out my name using it and I have time stamped photos. He claims “ it does not type”. And instead of asking me of how it works, he jumped to leave me a negative review within hours of receiving the item

NOT exactly.  What you said in your listing description was "New in box, possibly refurbished".  That is not the same as disclosing it was refurbished.  And Ebay has rules for Refurbished items too.  This darn site has a rule for just about everything.

One of the statements in the rule is as follows:

In order to sell refurbished items on eBay, sellers must qualify and meet a list of condition requirements and have a minimum 30-day return window plus free shipping.

https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/ebay-for-business/ebay-refurbished-program

Sometimes things work until they one day don't.  Hard to explain why.  I still don't know why my coffee machine one day just stopped working.  It worked fine the day before.

P O Box?....did it say that on the address?

There is 'freight forward' where the buyer has letters and numbers after their name...which is 'freight forward'.

Just a thought here.

No.  Freight forwarders do not use PO boxes.  Also numbers after a name also does not mean it is shipping to an FF.  I'm not sure where you got that info, but it isn't correct.

I would honor the return if they filed it, but who knows if you'll get it back as you don't accept returns.  New sellers take note: eBay offers a 30 day money back guarantee to all buyers for what ever reason.  Send them a return label and hopefully they'll return it, but remember since you don't accept returns, they are not obligated to return the item.  Lesson learned.  Change your return policy before you get hurt again.

Happy Selling

They previously said they accepted it and issued a return label.  So now all they need to do is wait.

I will most definitely be fixing that. Hopefully I’ll get to it tonight

Just to give you some information on this so you can select what is best for you.

The return policies options are as follows.

  1. No Returns
  2. 30 day returns w/ buyer pays shipping
  3. 60 day returns w/ buyer pays shipping
  4. 30 day returns w/ seller pays shipping, AKA Free Returns
  5. 60 day returns w/ seller pays shipping. AKA Free Returns
  6. 14 Day returns in certain categories

With option number 1, No Returns the seller can completely deny taking a return for a Buyer's Remorse Return Request.  Or if they want to, they can accept the return and have the buyer pay the return shipping.  If the seller so chooses, they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer.

On options 2 & 3 the buyer is responsible for the return shipping on a Buyer's Remorse Return.  Plus, if the seller so chooses, they can withhold the original shipping if it was separately stated on the listing [not free shipping] when it is time to refund the buyer. As of October 1st 2019, sellers that are TRS have some additional protections as well as they can issue partial refunds if they use options 4 or 5 as their return policy.

On options 4 & 5 above, they are also known as Free Returns.  If a seller that has either of those policies, they will pay the return shipping even on a buyer's remorse return.  A seller can withhold the original shipping value from the refund if the shipping was separately stated in the listing [not free shipping].  Also, Seller’s offering options 4 or 5 have the ability to do partial refunds in certain cases if the item arrives back damaged, missing something or in a condition less than what it was sent to the buyer in, see the policy for more details, the link is below.  In the cases where a deduction in the refund is taken due to damage or other authorized reasons for a partial refund, Ebay will protect the seller from negative or neutral feedback.

ALL OPTIONS [1, 2, 3, 4 and 5] are required to process SNAD claims without exception.  Even if they are improperly filed and should have been a Buyer’s Remorse claim.

All return policies by sellers must meet or exceed what is stated in the Money Back Guarantee Policy!

14 day return policies are allowed in certain categories: Jewelry & Watches, Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment.

For those with Free Return and/or TRS members with 30 day return policies, there are some added protection benefits, one of which is the ability to do a discounted refund under certain conditions.

so you’re telling me that, if they don’t send the item back… they will get to keep it, get the refund, and I’ll still be stuck with a negative review and no item or compensation for the item?

Nope, that's not how it works.

READ the link I gave you in my post # 2 on this thread.  Did you read the first post on this thread.  I gave you lots of information.

You have maligned this buyer—questioned their motives, accused them of being up to no good, and all but called them out as a liar.

You mentioned several times that you are a new seller. This forum is populated with smart, successful, long-term sellers,  whose collective aim has been to help you with this issue. Yet you seem resistant to their points of view.

Very well said.  I gave them the info they needed in the first post on this thread.  But as of this post, it does not appear the OP read it as they are still questioning things I shared in the first post.

Once the seller accepts the return and sends the label buyer has to send the item back in order to get a refund regardless of the return policy.  A no return policy doesn’t mean that a buyer gets a free item.

May you never face this kind of buyer if you choose to point the finger at the seller. You completely miss my point. As a new seller I came on this forum for some helpful tips which I thankfully received from experienced sellers.

I am very concerned by what you are saying here.  It is against the Ebay rules for ANY employee of Ebay to give out private account information.  And the info about claims filed by the buyer is Private account information.

Yup. I thought that too right when I read the OP's reply. But I also know ebay and am not surprised if this was how the OP found out. I've had a few times before where a rep told me a bit more than they should have.

IDK why you don't actually read what has been written.  You got all kinds of help on this thread, but from the first post on the thread, you clearly did not read what was being offered to you.  You got all kinds of helpful hints from me and other members.

I've explained to you how that feedback will get removed automatically if they don't ship it back to you.  But for some reason you don't seem to see that as a solution or advice.  Since there is a Return Request opened, you approved it and you issued the return shipping label to the buyer.  It is now in the buyer's hands.  If they don't ship it back in the next couple of weeks or so, Ebay will close the claim in YOUR favor.  And when that happens, the feedback should get auto removed.

You are assuming this is a bad buyer.  You don't really know that for sure.  It is just a conclusion you have jumped to.  I've been a seller for many years and I've dealt with many buyers that were very problematic.

You just need to stay silent and wait.  Do not write to the buyer at all for any reason.

I don't know, it could be some assumptions involved here.  I can report this and have it looked into to see if that was said to them.  Maybe I should as the CSR should have never given the seller that kind of info.  But I don't think that would really help anything.

Re: negative feedback not fair and not being able to send offers

One reason I encourage member to use the social media assigned reps is that those Chats are written not oral and give the member a transcript.

The member can then read the transcript and see what was said, not what they think was said.

I suspect in this case, the OP thinks what the call centre rep said was that the buyer has previous claims when the actual conversation was  more like "I bet he has other claims against him too!"  " Uh huh yeah I see what you are saying."
