how to refund a buyer

So sold an item that has been lost in the mail.   The buyer opened a case and then closed it.   Ebay will not let him reopen or file a new claim.   I can't issue him a credit.   AND I can't find a number to call EBAY.  HELP!

Re: how to refund a buyer

If you are SURE the item is lost, you can cancel the sale. Use "problem with address". Your buyer will be refunded and your fees will be credited.

(Yes, you can do this with a shipped item. You can even do this for an item that has been delivered)

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: how to refund a buyer

Hello!

If they paid via paypal, you can process a refund for them directly through paypal. This is most likely what ebay will recommend in a circumstance like this!

If you are trying to contact ebay, they have made a bit annoying to do so! On the ebay home page, there is a link at the top for "Help & Contact". Scroll towards the bottom and click "Contact us". From there, choose "Seller" and choose "Help a buyer with an item they didnt receive". On this page there should be options to have ebay call you or you can speak with the automated assisstant. If you want to use the chat, once it pops up just type in "Speak to a rep" and it will prompt you and send you to a live rep to talk to.

Hope this helps!
