eBay sales have dropped

eBay sales have dropped to 0 recently. Something bad is happening on this sales site. I believe this happens to a lot of sellers. I wonder if the move to the new payment method has caused this low volume sales to all the sellers 😓

new payment system is not the problem: category changes, specifics changes,  promotional systems; and as well as real life situation such as rising gas cost etc.... are doing such..

Oh and the search aint to great yet but was improving a bit prior to the last couple of days...

I'm a low volume seller who opted into Managed Payments (it's not 'new') during August, 2019. I can tell you that the move didn't affect my low sales one bit. 😑

eBay is unwilling to invest to fix it's real problem. The servers cannot handle the traffic.  Until around March of this year I would have a decent sell-through because my items while only being shown to portions of the country at a time, would be visible in enough regions that people would buy things.

Since around March it seems like things are only being shown this way one week out of the month, as I will have weeks with no sales at all, or just one or two, and then one good week with a bunch of sales.   This is all because of the monkeying they keep doing with searches.

It seems like things also only get a wide exposure when brand new.  Once relisted or more than a few days old they become invisible.

Case in point, last week I had 7 sales and four were all around the Chicago area, including two to adjacent zip codes.  The others, were one to the southwest and one to New England and I forget the last one.

The elimination of so many categories and subcategories, listings being moved into bulk categories where they don't belong, have negatively affected my selling. I sell Early American Pattern Glass almost exclusively, and have been carefully monitoring one of my listings which is a rather desirable butter dish. This butter dish has 25 views, 4 watchers, and 5 bids, the same as it had on Monday. No, I can't say that I'm very happy with the changes eBay made with their Fall Seller Update. 😔

I've been here for 24+ years; I've never seen it as slow as it is for October.   The ONLY item I've sold was to a buyer who didn't know I had two of their item, so purchased it October 1st.  Other than that, NOTHING.

The people on this board will tell you things are fine, and it's you and what you are selling.  So you really can't trust the answers you will get, they will just blame you.  My sales are way down but I'm not really trying that hard anymore.  The way you can tell if ebays sales are down is to look at how many "my sales are down" post that show up on the board.  There have been a bunch of late, that tells me sales are really down.

The people on this board will tell you it's ebay's fault and has nothing to do with what you are selling.  So you really can't trust the answers you will get, they will just blame ebay.  My sales are a little down but I'm not really trying that hard anymore.  The way you can tell if ebays sales are ok is to look at how many sellers have not posted "my sales are down" here on the board. There are millions of them.  Millions of them are selling without any problem. Some sellers on this board will even attest to that.  That tells me it's not a ebay issue and that sellers need to take responsibility if sales are slow.

Thanks to all the respondents. I'm not in the business of blaming. I just understand that for all sorts of reasons buyers are not interested in purchasing more products on eBay. This sales site is dying 😩

Won't even hazard a guess as to why sellers are seeing a drop in sales.

But I don't think we can say it has anything to do with Managed Payments because that switch had no effect on buyers at all.  They still pay the same way they always have.  Probably some don't even realize that this was a change for how sellers receive payment.

In the same boat on my sales decrease due to eBay lumping My Antique American Brilliant Glass and Early American Pattern Glass into a “Pottery And Glass” Junk Box so to speak

there is no where for the specialty, art or Antique Glass. I tried to List some in the Other Antiques Category and Nada Nada Nada!!! These eBay workers see to look for ways to put sellers under. Do they not know what fuels their paychecks???

So you think there are people out there who really want to buy your stuff but ebay is somehow preventing them from doing so?

My sales were always pretty steady until eBay implemented the Promoted Listings Advanced beta program on Sept 19, 2021

After that, up to about a week ago, my sales plummeted. To date, they still have not recovered, despite my listings always being prime for the holiday giving.

Personally, I believe the slower 'than usual' slow down is happening to the sellers who are not participating in that PLA program because all the 'other stuff' such as weather conditions, disposable income, etc have been going on for some time.

More recently, the category changes may have something to do with it for some sellers who sell in those categories.

As for eBay's Managed Payments system, that is not it. That program has been in place for a few years. My sales were unaffected by it either way.
