eBay invite.........

Received an email (not through eBay's email system) with an invite to join a live webinar about joining "eBay US Customer Support Services". Email was titled "Earn money helping other sellers on eBay". Went to the link in the email and the page appeared legit. Anyone else get this email? TIA.

I signed up for this even though the pay is not much because I am on SSDI and a LITTLE bit more money would be nice.

The practice questions did deal with the QL form a lot, which made me laugh since they want experienced sellers.  They must have forgotten that experienced sellers most likely have NEVER seen the QL form.

I logged into my buying account and started a draft so I could answer the questions.

Just to add to that, it is my understanding the QLF is going away.  Once everyone is transitioned to the new Listing Form it will be the same for all sellers.

And you are so right, I have NEVER used the QLF, I have always used ALF [advanced listing form].

@comics-scifi-collectibles

yeah, so they say, have you used the new listing form? I had the option but never tried it so not sure what it consists of. But like you I use the ALF with HTML (granted I just do basic HTML, I don't like the idea of fanzy listings, just simple line breaks, bold, underline markup.

@nuclearomen. Yes I got early access to it.   It's still a work in progress and they are supposed to be adding more features but having to click edit to open a sidebar pop-up for EACH section has got to be the dumbest idea I have ever seen.    I gave my feedback to the team, it was far from favorable.

common, suggestions on new features are ignored, but by the time it fully rolls out hopefully they make it better.

IDK that to be true.  Certainly sometimes it is but sometimes it isn't.  I think it is going to depend on the suggestions being offered and how complicated the change would be before roll out.

Mine is not the new listing form.  I know we both asked for it, and you were the lucky soul that ended up with it.  LOL

I still have my beloved ALF.  I'm guessing I really need to get busy and list this large stack of books I have here before they change my world with the new listing form!!!

I just wish they weren't trying to get all fancy with the new listing form [from what I've seen].  ALF works extremely well and if they just repeated that as close as they could in whatever computer language they need so that it is compatible with mobile functions, seems to me that would be the best thing to do.  But just my opinion.  Which no one asked for of course!!!  LOL

sometimes things taken into consideration if it turns to be a big issue. In any case, anyone can use the new listing tool and test it out, if you don't like it can opt out and go back...but for how long idk, the plan was/is for the new tool to completely replace the other ones eventually. I didn't try it, but when you go to make listing (and normally I do that from templates I made) on the very upper right hand corner there is a link "Try the new listing tool" - my only concern if you do that will mess up the old when you decide to go back(?).

I as well am quite happy with the ALF - and with templates, it takes me few few min to list, just add title, specifications, photos, and fill in the title and few specs in description and done... does anyone know if templates will still work with the new listing tool?

In this thread https://community.ebay.com/t5/Seller-Hub/2021-Seller-Hub-New-Update-With-new-features-New-Listing-to...  the OP reports that saved templates are not an option with the new listing tool.  I do not have the new listing tool yet, so can not confirm.

Templates are coming this month according to Harry Temkin.  Did you see the link above, in message 114, shared by @comics-scifi-collectibles ?

Here is the link again  https://community.ebay.com/t5/Tools-Apps/New-unified-listing-tool-SUCKS-ebay/m-p/31546273#M31021

Seems to me they're already getting "highly experienced workers to work for them on the cheap" via the M2M.

Re: eBay invite.........

I did, but not the first link, had to click on the second link from the post from the first link. Bit confusing, Feb states "Listing Templates" then March states "Listing Description Templates" - are they saying that you will need two (2) templates for a listing now, one for the listing and one for the description part of the listing?

Jan

Shipping rate table: Create / edit
Promoted Listings/Volume Pricing Summary box
Local pickup fee
Promoted Listings: Create Campaigns

Feb

Multi-User Account Access (MUAA) Support
Charity Support
Combined shipping discounts
Listing Templates
Volume Pricing Campaign Management

March

Design Updates (blue links, header / status UI, photos at top, panel position shift)
Classified format
Private listing
Title / Condition mismatch
Mobile Web Optimization
Listing Description Templates

@nuclearomen   Description templates are something I use to insert a standard statement about offering combined shipping onto a newly created listing.

They are different from listing templates which would have all the information provided if that is what you need.

I don't use listing templates very often unless I am listing the same type of item in the same category.

Re: eBay invite.........

@comics-scifi-collectibles
Templates - as they have been include all sections of a listing, so item specifics and description are in one template. The list suggests that there will need to be 2 templates used for a listing with the new tool, one for the listing, one for the description. Yes, of course, that's the whole idea of templates, you wouldn't use templates if your not listing in a particular category a lot. Example of my templates, I list in music - vinyl category, my template is as follows:

Some things are prefilled for specifics (obviously most are left blank and filled in at time of listing creation, can't prefill artist, label, duration, special attributes etc... as every title is different of course) but the template is made to the category so it's all easier then starting from scratch.

Then the item description, I have it all prefilled, I just need to enter band/title and the infor needed for that title and done. Which looks like the second photo when I list it.

@nuclearomen. My point is that there have always been two types of templates.

I don't think that we will have to add description templates to listings created with listing templates.

Time will tell....
