eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

Obviously, the programmer who created the NEW messaging site IS NOT a seller on eBay nor received seller input.  This page needs improvement OR we should have the option to opt-out and return to the classic message page.  This is very frustrating and the page is not user-friendly.  When I send messages, there are times when I need to review what I wrote to the buyer/potential buyer before responding again.

With the new messaging format, when you click "sent" to pull up the message if you typed several paragraphs, this mess will only show you a small portion of the message you sent.  You cannot scroll to view the entire message.  I sell to more than one person, so how can I remember what was written?  I have sent messages to "What do you think?".  Am I the only seller not happy with "new messaging"?  Is anyone at eBay paying attention?

On the messages page, there's a link on the bottom right that you can click on to submit feedback about the new message format. It goes direct to the product developers.

Constructive and specific feedback will be more well-received than a simple "I don't like it." Make the most of the text field.

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

The entire conversation you've had back and forth with a buyer is shown in the panel on the right. MUCH better than before where you had to 'locate' sent messages' and then find the 'incoming messages' etc.

Now, all messages back and forth, IN FULL, is right there on the right. Just scroll it down if you need to see/read more.

What is there to "address"?

Ebay made a change.

You don't like it.

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

I have to weigh in on this again I think.

Here's my take, for what its worth:

When they first start poking out the new version of the messaging, I absolutely hated it.  I immediately had rolled back to the old one.  Why?

The folder list was gone.

Messages were only sortable by username, which was a problem for a larger volume seller.

You had no way to distinguish sent from inbox.

I rebelled and filled out the feedback on it, and that was months ago.

Now.

Since this version has dropped, I'm less hateful of it.  There are aspects I don't like (turning the messages themselves into chat bubbles for one) but they retained the folder lists and the ability to view only the sent messages.

So not great, but a hell of a lot better than how it started..

Right. I think what really got me ticked-off at the outset, though, was because it was painfully obvious that the code (when it worked properly) was not written by people who actually understood how the message utility is used. It was bizarre to notice what was missing, and how what was there was not an improvement over the past version. It was not even close to Production quality and did not fulfill the needs of the user.

There are echoes of the major revision they did to the Shipping form here several years ago, where it eventually came out that one big reason for the complete reworking of the Shipping form was because they had no one left who understood the code of the existing form, and they had some major changes that needed to be put in as updates. Too many contract programmers; not enough managers on-staff. They finally brought in the current Shipping form from the UK website and eventually got it to work with the U.S. carriers.

" Just scroll it down if you need to see/read more. "

Yup, just scroll it down with the near invisible vertical bar that I found by accident.  Nice.

In 1998 they invented the mouse. In 1999 they put a wheel on it. Use the wheel. Don't need to 'find' a bar.

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

Hi,  Not really a big fan of the new messaging page.  But,  We will get used to it like all of the other unannounced eBay changes that pop-up from time to time.  Realistically - Its eBays ball field - they just allow us to play on it.  "Dont' Sweat The Small Stuff" - Life is to short.  Good Luck out there everyone.  Hope that you sellers a making some $$$ & that you buyers are finding some nice deals.  (J.B. Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

It reminds me of an email program that dates back to around 1990.

Not a fan of it at all.

Ummm - that is pretty close regarding the mouse WHEEL but the mouse itself has been around for over 50 years... 😉

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

Agreed!! I have message them at least 20 times !! , no response NOTHING, the new Messaging site it HORRIBLE the worst change ever made to that app. Yet either they don't want whoever wrote that code to get reprimanded or they want to force SUCK on you. PLEASE eBay for the sake of your SELLERS revert back to classic or give a Choice this is not working

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

Why don't you send them your message?  We have sent them over 20 times Constructive Feedback on this New Messaging app and have not gotten a Response ONCE some good a suggestion box makes if all the paper is burned before reading. I would imagine they get Hundreds of Thousands of messages a Day I do not believe they are ever Read. again, Just my Humble opinion, but I've asked for responses to things over the last 26 years and never gotten a response to them once either. Sure would like to be PROVED WRONG

Re: eBay has NOT addressed the NEW MESSAGING FORMAT

My problem as a buyer is that I can not contact ANY of the sellers that I buy from...When I click on the contact seller icon, a message box appears on the right; but my cursor will not show up in it no matter how many times I click on it. Please bring back the old system....I never had any problems with  it; AND PLEASE GET RID OF THAT (EXPLETIVES TO INFINITY DELETED) "NEW" MESSAGING SYSTEM...IT DOES NOT WORK; AND ALSO GET RID OF THAT MISBEGOTTEN AI AND (GASP) (SHOCK) REPLACE IT WITH A HUMAN BEING......Warren Desonia spaction1
