eBay deserves a huge DEFECT for their performance this morning

In 20 years I've never seen eBay hide everyone's listings. I didn't even think that was possible! This cost us about $500-$1000 in sales so far...

It is no different than McDonalds warning you the coffee is still available for sale but is hot.

Sure if McDonalds had a search bar that you typed coffee into but if you actually wanted to see all the coffee you would need to tell them specifically that you wanted to see all the coffee and not just the coffee that McDonalds wants you to see or that some other company paid McDonalds to show instead.

Oh easy!

Maybe you can find a platform that doesn't have glitches or ever go down.

Let us know how that goes...

eBay search is utter CR star P and everybody knows it. I’ve been using eBay search  for 12 years I know how to use it been using it a long time and per what I said it’s gotten more frustrating and useless every single year and Ian. Yeah he’s made it completely useless as him as a CEO as Sales have done nothing but plummet customers buyers in specific have plummeted, and the search engine has done nothing more than get stifled by EN in this ridiculous search engine that he calls the search engine. FYI Google is 100 times better than Ebay search engine looking for items on eBay what a joke.

You are very confused on that statement. Items WILL show, but in some cases, if servers go down, or if a buyer is trying to find something with 10,000 of the same things listed it will only show so many. It gives the buyer an opportunity to click SHOW ALL. It is no different than McDonalds warning you the coffee is still available for sale but is hot.

Not just confused, but very confused? I must disagree with that assessment. What is confusing is the vague wording of the policy i referenced and its actual meaning.

But i am fairly confident that the referenced wording from the UA in my post #19 does not say a listing will show up in Search, somewhere, 100% of the time—all you need to do is click “Show me all”. I am happy to read another policy  reference that refutes this.

I am not talking about throttling or spouting conspiracy theories that eBay is out to get sellers. I am saying that eBay has the ability to manipulate Search results. It likely can hide listings if it chooses. Under what circumstances it might do so, i would not speculate.

ebay customer support yeah you may want to read trust pilot ... 1.2 stars( and many of those are about the horrible experiences we buyers and sellers have with enays customer support ( its a known isssue )  again ive been using this search engine before you started working at ebay ( 2017) if im correct as that what your account shows , im a seller and a buyer for 12 years I 'vbe watched ebays search engine go from good to utterly frustingly BAD so bad that when i search for items to purchase ( i end up going to the store because im that frustrated with your search engine .... think customer friendly buyer friendly ( sorry to burst your bubble your search engine is not and this is from a longtime buyer seller but obviously that doesnt mattter to you  what i think its only ebay last two CEO's including Ian that matters not the customers maybe part of the reason why your losing more customers than any other platform that size SAD ) , you may want to think why both GMV , Market share , and total amount of buyers have been dropping like a leaky ship for the past 5

yes they do , and i completely agree , they do not care about losing sales in my opinion as they have been losing them for a while as we are back to GMV of 2013 a decade ago ... another failed ebay CEO  in my opinion going on 5 days with no sales on ebay , but ive have over 18 sales on the other platforms i use ... good luck diversify on many other platforms thats what i do , funny thing how ebay wants us to share our listings on social media and still pay there fees , not sure if ebay knows this but we can sell on those platforms for less fees if not free , JS

" ... eBay has the ability to manipulate Search results. ..."

They manipulate search results on a regular basis. The tell for experienced Sellers is when their normal sales flow changes drastically in a short period of time.  Sellers aren't stupid and while they may not be able to put their finger on exactly what Home Office has done they know "something" was done and result is poor sales.

I know one area they have changed things is PLS campaigns.  Prior to 2022 and the launch of the new Views counting and PLA (Pay to play) I ran quarterly PLS campaigns with great success.  I picked one fixed ad rate between 5% - 10% and put every BIN on a 30 day campaign. My fixed ad rate was always higher than their "trending" rates.  The net result was average daily sales between 2-3 per day.  In 2022 that all changed, "suggested" rates appeared along the way and average sales dropped to 1-2 per day and closer to 1 than 2.  This year my first PLS in Jan - Feb performed like those of old then my 2nd quarter PLS tanked like 2022.  So I just finished a shorter (17 day) "test" PLS where I used a 12% Fixed ad rate, way above even their "suggested" rates of about 8-9% (which had magically rose to the high end of my previous 5% - 10% range).  Sure enough, average daily sales spiked right back to 2-3 per day in a short period of time.  That's NOT a coincidence.

eBay's income is based on fees, period.  Most decisions they make are to increase their income via fees.  They now have enough total listings on the venue that they can manipulate things to their benefit.

Note: eBay referencing ad rates as "trending" in the past implied they were based on historical facts opposed to the current reference as "suggested" ad rates which to me implies the rates are what they want you to use opposed to having any basis in historical fact.

@dubsteesllc

Have you thought of being the hero and being the lead plaintiff in the Class Action suit? All you have to do is find an attorney that will take your case.

I would start by getting out the yellow pages and up a few corporate trial attorneys in Boise. Next I would schedule a consultation with very one of them. Most attorneys offer a free consultation.

If any of the attorneys think you have a good case they will take on the case contingent. Meaning you don’t have to pay them a dime because they will get a portion of the spoils from winning the case if it goes to trial or any settlement.  (A 33% cut is customary for Class Action cases) If te attorney wins the case and you as the lead plaintiff will get a nice payoff usually much bigger than the rest of the class.

Please come back let us know when you have found a attorney that will take the case so the rest of us can become a member of the class.

@gotta-have-it-collectables ,

Another CEO this time from Kroger the second largest grocery retailer after Wallyworld said he has noticed a trend especially recently of shoppers trading down. Buying a lot less beef and replacing it with chicken, or buying a lot more house brand items.

Since most sellers who complain about slow sales sell discretionary items is any wonder why sales are down. The Federal Reserve is trying to engineer a slow down in order to fight inflation. They raising interest rates on purpose to reduce demand of discretionary items.

The only issue is that when you sign up with Ebay, there's some small print where you essentially agree to never sue them, but I'm not sure if that means "current users" or "any user, ever" so that would be tricky.

I would gladly drop my Ebay account in a minute if it means they'll legally and financially be held accountable for screwing over their user base, whether it is intentional or via negligence.
