eBay charged me crazy international fee even it should be zero according to their terms

I got charged crazy high international fee even the seller and buyer are located in EU (zero fees according to eBay terms). Plus, I am unable to contact support, absolutely zero chance to contact them because they just support US phone numbers or German but I live in other country. How can I do that?

Huh, @lacemaker3 , impressive sleuthing, I didn't find that page, but it's odd that the fee percentage still doesn't match up with any of the options on that page either.

Thanks!

Yes, I was disappointed that I couldn't find an explanation for the 4.2% fee also. The tip-off for me was the free selling fees ... that meant that it was listed as a private seller on eBay Germany, and I figured that probably contributed to the issue.

Have you ever heard about czech version of eBay.CZ? Probably not right? I would love to use czech version. Another improvement Ebay can make! I have to let you know one thing - it just does not exist. Well, when you want to sell something on eBay in Europe, you have to choose from existing european eBay platforms - mostly German version. You are completely wrong, I pay extra fees for ads see the picture below. They just charge me 4.2% international fee and no-one was able to explain why when for Europe it is  1.6%!

You are just wrong. We talk about international fee it is 4.2% nominally 17.39EUR. We do not talk about Final Value Fee.

I am well aware that there is no eBay website in the Czech Republic.

You listed that item on eBay Germany as a private seller, so your final value fees (in German: Verkaufsprovision, aka sales commission) were zero. That means that your fees on this item are based on the fees for Private Sellers in Germany, including the international fee. You should have been charged 5%, not 4.2%. Do you want to argue that you should have been charged the full 5%?

If you want to know more about why you were charged less for the international fee, you should ask about that on the community forum for eBay Germany. They are much more likely to have experience with this than the responders here, who are mostly based in the USA and selling on eBay USA.

Even private sellers on eBay Germany are able to promote their listings. You chose to pay a 4% promoted listing fee, so you have to pay the fees that you agreed to for promoted listings.

Your promoted listings fees page in German, and a gisted translation from google lens.

You didn't read a word @lacemaker3  posted if you think they're talking about different things than you...

Re: eBay charged me crazy international fee even it should be zero according to their terms

There are three things you must consider seller address (Czech Rep.), buyer address (Italy) and platform ebay.de (that is why I am saying - eBay is non-transparent all the time). Based on this the fee should be 1.6%.

Look guys, you dont know I dont know how they came up with this number and eBay Customer Service sucks as usual. They are just drinking cofees or what. It means in this eBay jungle we will never get the answer! You just get an invoice and you have to pay but dont ask any questions brother!

You didn't post that item as an "EU Unsited seller" selling as an Export seller. (Where that screenshot came from.)

https://export.ebay.com/en/fees-and-payments/seller-fees/international-fees/

You posted it as a Private seller on eBay.de (eBay Germany), so the International Fee should have been 5%.

Otherwise, you would have been charged final value fees for the transaction (probably 11% plus 0.35 ). But you weren't.

Or, as I said before:

Even, you would be right, the numbers do not match and still I dont know how to evaluate a seller from Czech Rep., selling on german eBay.de - sited/unsited? eBay fee policy is non-transparent it is like a rolling a dice. I will make a test, I am gonna sell another same notebook and lets see if the calculation will be same (meaning the percentage). I would guess no way because eBay gonna eBay.

Do you really want to argue that you should have been charged 5.0%, instead of 4.2%?

Or, you could pay 11% plus 0.35 (= 36.30€ plus 0.35€)

(Plus 1.6% international fee)   (Plus 4% for promoted ad fees.)

Re: eBay charged me crazy international fee even it should be zero according to their terms

OFFICIAL STATEMENT from eBay Customer Chat:

Hi Michal! Thank you for your patience. I've been reviewing this to see if we can find any further information behind the 4.20% fee. We are not finding any indication as of yet where that number came from based of the percentages we see elsewhere. We are going to go ahead and get an IT ticket submitted to get more information on this which will allow us to figure out the best resolution to help in this scenario. In the meantime, there's nothing else you need to worry about. I will be in touch upon receiving an answer and given the upcoming holiday there may be a delay in response, so I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience and for contacting eBay, so we could help look into this for you.

I am glad, I was right again! Good night!

Does not seem that you have a "final" answer yet.

The fee could stick as is, go lower, go higher.

Re: eBay charged me crazy international fee even it should be zero according to their terms

Well, I was solving this issue with eBay CS, even with the leaders of CS and we went to a conclusion that the International Fee should be 1.6% instead of 4.2% (charged) in my case. They returned the difference 4.2-1.6=2.6%. They still work on this problem with the IT department because there can be even a technical issue - wrong value in the software, meaning they could charge customers more than they should according the fee structure. In conclusion: Nobody has clarified yet where the number 4.2% came from. They still work on the clarification.
