Except its a giant slap in the face to charge those of us keeping ebay employed for 20 years while offering new competition a massive leg up. Not only does this help new sellers while flipping off old ones......but it literally makes new competition have a lower cost of doing business to jump in front price wise.

Yes great idea........for ebay........as usual......to the detriment of the current seller......as usual.

Looks like this is targeting brick and mortar stores who could really use an online presence right now. I think it's a great idea. A lot of these small businesses are struggling, many are closed, and this could be a real lifeline for them.

You for sure know how competitive ebay has gotten and now they have removed all barriers for people to compete against us with advantages we wont have. Free 50K listings and now ZERO selling fees for 2 months.

How can you not be outraged by this? You must have so much money it is stupid to not care about this. You are always about "I dont need handouts, and you should pay for the things you get" but now you are in favor of free handouts to the competition? Seriously this goes against everything you are always commenting on. NO HANDOUTS.

Please let me know why you are in favor of this.

I've been planning to purchase a store subscription for some time and this seemed like a good time to do it.  Has anyone here been able to trigger the promotion and actually receive the invitation email for the "up and running" promotion? 

I was told to make a new business / seller account by ebay to qualify, so I did that.  I was told that the new account qualified by ebay support.  After 1.5 weeks, I hadn't received the invitation email, so I asked what I should do.  They said that they couldn't help, and that I should make another new ebay account.  So I did that.  I now have 3 ebay accounts.  I still haven't received the invitation email.

I have haven't had any luck either- once I was making some headway my account was permanently suspended.  Thought this was to help those of us suffering from closure due to covid and now it is impossible to get an account.  So disappointed...

I didn't read the fine print, but i assume sellers like me who have been selling for years without a store and would now like to take advanage of this offer, do not qualify

I didn't defend this - I simply explained the logic of it from eBay's perspective. 

As for me "usually defending eBay", here are a few statements that I have posted regularly here for over a decade now:

"Any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute"

"eBay values buyers much more than it values sellers"

"eBay policy enforcement has never been fair, comprehensive, accurate, or timely"

I'm not sure how any of these could interpreted as "defending" eBay.

I will say I have seen you say on occasion things that doesnt shine the backside of ebay. However 95% of posts I read, from you the ebay veteran mind you, is almost always condescending to sellers. This latest example just a few posts above to me.

I never suggested anything about large corporations. I responded to you thinking its just grand of ebay to offer no fees to people who "have not been paying the bills" like those of us on these forums have. I did in no way suggest that they should do what is best for me. You putting words in my mouth and trying to make me look the bad guy is beneath you. Or maybe not. As for the easter bunny? I can only assume you had nothing better to try to throw a jab at me with. It failed miserably.

Yes awesome ebay offered new folks a great deal. Yes its in ebays favor as always. Yes it puts ebays sellers like myself and you included at a disadvantage. No I never once expected ebay to do what might be considered the right thing by their current sellers. Again, your whine is no less painful to look at that anyone elses.

I think it is a wonderful program and hopefully it will help a lot of people currently in financial crisis.  I think it is a terrific and caring program for Ebay to offer at a time when so many are hurting so badly financially in the hopes it helps them a bit.
