Absolutely no sales January 2020

I have not had any sales during the last 4 days and hardly any before that. I didn't list anything during the month of December and I understand when you don't list you don't get any sales, but how long after you start listing do sales go up? I've been listing more than 10 items a day for the last 8 days without any results. It's like my listings are invisible. I ended some old listings and relisted them again as sell similar but it's not making a difference. I called ebay yesterday and the agent told me that everything looks good in my account and my low sales are due to the season? I have checked other sellers stores and they seem to be doing just fine selling at least every other day. So the agent told me practically No Sales for you and it's going to be like this until the second week of February. Is anybody else experiencing something like this?

I've found direct correlation between my listing activity and my sales - this search, like any search, rewards activity.  This is absolutely nothing knew nor anything mysterious.  It takes some days for activity for me to start up again after I've stopped listing, which may be just to do with what I list, but I have noticed that with what I have running now (and this DOES have a lot to do with what items one has running), my sales are much slower with less than 200 items running than when I had 400-450 running which netted me pretty much a full-time living.

You don't need thousands of items here, it's just that the fewer listings one has, the more targeted and in-demand those listings need to be.  Buuuuuuuuut...listing items that people want is a real moving target.

Generally speaking, the more listings you have the greater your chances of a sale.

But I have never bought into the theory that eBay manipulates exposure based on your listing activity.

That is probably true, but from my own experience most things will sell in the first week or not at all.

This is when I start getting real busy to where I can't keep up with the shipping, running to the P. O. 2 to 3 times a day. This year stomach churning dead. I have read where some sellers are stating that they are in financial trouble because of there sales are dead.

We have been here since the beginning had 3 stores and thousands of listings

the truth is we had to start working full time

We closed our stores 16 months ago

We are down to 30 listings and will not be selling on eBay anymore after Friday

Listing below cost with free shipping and free returns is socialism not capitalism !

I have watched the steady spiral downwards for the last decade hanging on hoping for better search better CEO something anything to make this venue what it was before

a marketplace for unique and interesting stuff and wonderful people

I miss the good ol ebay days I guess they are gone for good

Another dismal earnings report and pretty good drop in stock price. This company better do something fast to stay alive! Ebay, start making some changes for the better for once!

Really sorry to hear that. I might do the same and look for a real job after my daughter starts kindergarten next fall. Best of luck to you.

Leave! Stop wasting time here. I left up a few remaining listings and will be removing them. I've got hundreds of items listed elsewhere and it's working out better.

eBay just reported in their earnings that their U.S. gross merchandise value sales were down 9%, down 5.4% globally.

An almost double digit decrease year over year. It's becoming increasingly clear that the slow sales issues are related to buyers shopping elsewhere.

They also said that GMV will continue to decline throughout 2020, so it seems the marketplace is on a permanent decline.

They did't mention how they were going to change any of this, so who knows what will happen long term....

Started crosslisting somewhere else from today. Will see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!

Was also getting excited that finally got over  500 items listed but it seems if you are not over 1000 items you don't go anywhere.

You have a few hundred clothing listings among hundreds of millions. That's you're number one problem. Too many other similar listings. #2, most people I assume, want to touch, see, feel clothing before buying, especially used clothing. You go to the mall and see hundreds of pieces, try them on, and take them home the same day, often for less money than used items online. Maybe try selling another category of merchandise. I see your pyrex bowl has 4 bids while everything else has nothing. Go in that direction.
