eBay Changed the Selling Form -- AGAIN and for the WORSE

It's been a while since I last listed anything on eBay.

But I knew that they had changed the selling form.

What I didn't know was that they had changed it AGAIN.

I find it VERY difficult to use now.

I used to use HTML in my Description but it doesn't seem to work now even when I select the HTML option.

And there are other changes that make it difficult such as including images in the Description area.

I haven't figured that out yet.

Let's just say that selling on eBay is no longer intuitively obvious.

Describe it as if there are no pictures.
Take pictures as if there is no description.

Always hard to learn new stuff.........

I wouldn't put pictures in description unless you have to........  Hard on Mobile.

Keep external links out of listings, including those of images and you'll be just fine. I use HTML all the time and have never had a problem - nor have I ever linked to anything outside eBay. Works like a charm.

Check your listing and you will see probably that people have to click to see the description to read it

Re: eBay Changed the Selling Form -- AGAIN and for the WORSE

I was getting many "Check To See Full Description" boxes on my own listings last night; not today.  I have no links, no whatevers, no tech knowledge to do anything in the first place.

Ebay was also amazingly slooooow to load last night; I was babysitting at the grandtots' house and, believe me, those rocket scientist (for real) nerd parents of theirs do not have dial-up internet connection.   grinning

It did make me wonder if their server thingy had something to do with all of my missing descriptions?  Can that happen?

I don't have mobile.

I'm strictly desktop computer.

That makes many things easier.

Your buyers may use a mobile device. eBay is gearing towards mobile users as a lot of companies are.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Sounds like eBay.

I bet there's still a BIG chunk of people use desktops and laptops.

Why not just ignore them.

I’m just the messenger.

I have to admit I bought something today with my phone. I have to have a laptop as well. I’d be lost without having it.

It’s honestly not eBay on this matter. Technology is here. Jetsons are here.

I took a web design course not long ago and the prevailing trend in ALL website design these days is "mobile first" due to how many people surf the net via a phone or tablet now.  It's easier to design a website to be optimized for a mobile device and then tweak it for desktop format than it is the other way around, and with the rise of things like Bootstrap, you can make a single site design that works for both.  Like it or not, mobile browsing is on the rise, so websites need to make changes to be compatible with it.
