It appears that ebay is promoting the spread of the Virus by blocking sales of needed sanitizing products to customers that possibly/probably cannot find the items locally due to shortages.

They are not promoting the spread of it.
They got tired of sellers buying everything they could to resell here for crazy prices.
They warned sellers about their prices, but some didn't listen so they decided to fix the problem

they can go to Amazon instead and get gouged

No, ebay is following California law.
Your statement is ridiculous.

California is so left why would anyone pay attn to their laws ? Sanctuary this that and everything !

34 states have specific laws prohibiting price gouging. It's not just California this time.

That's preposterous. As absurd as saying this post spreads a global public panic.

Totally not fair to people that are not doing anything wrong. My listings were removed and I have been selling these items for years at reasonable prices. Remove the ones that are really considered price gouging not the ones that aren't.

Its ridiculous people gouging, hiking prices for the their own needs and profiteering, even the BBC has picked it up;
"Analysis from Liberty Marketing has found UK own-brand hand sanitisers are being sold on eBay for huge mark ups, with Lidl 49p sanitisers selling for as much as £24.99 online.
Morrison's £2 hand sanitiser is being sold for £29.99.
The Tesco Health Antibacterial Hand Gel (50ml) is just 75p in-store and is being sold for as much as £9 on eBay.
Other supermarkets included in the research include Asda, with a 2,629% increase, and Morrisons, with a 1,400% increase."
Ebay needs to frankly do more.....

The only way somethings sells, is if someone buys. So if the market will not bear the asking price, the sellers are forced to either keep their products or lower price. The fact is, there are people out there in real need of these products who (i) can not go out to multiple brick & mortar stores to try and find (most are out of stock) (ii) are self quarantined (iii) afraid to go out (iv) who have the virus and do not want to spread it and the list goes on and on. Sellers Sell, and hopefully Buyers Buy. Good Luck everyone!

I like to refer to it as GREED.

Before the ban, this board was full of posts accusing eBay of promoting the Spread of the Corona Virus by allowing those sales.
All this tells me is that I should probably be listening to actual health care experts, not anonymous message board posters 🙂

It doesn’t matter what we think. eBay owns the site and gets to decide what cannot be sold here. Set up your own website if you want total control over your business.

NO! Ebay is trying to prevent THE DISGUSTING PRICE GOUGING virus that has infected so many sellers (and you'll notice many of these sellers are "newbies"). Just go to the "Purell Hand Sanitizer section, and see what these pigs are trying to get away with. On top of that, they are price gouging on the shipping as well. Buyers beware: you are not dealing with a common hustler selling stuff on the street, you are dealing with selfish pigs who know they are charging ten to twenty times the retail price of an item because you need it.
