Did you mean:

Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

Buyer orders 5/21, we ship same day.  Delivered on 5/24 per USPS.

Buyer files chargeback tonight stating "does not recognize transaction".  Buyer is also a seller, selling similar items.

To respond to the dispute, all you can do now as a Seller is enter the tracking, which indeed shows delivered.

There is no box or anything to add anything additional.   Last one we had was 2-3 years ago and we dealt with Paypal who found in our favor as it showed delivered.

This is MP.  Does Buyer automatically win in this scenario?  What now?

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

Your buyer filed chargeback stating "does not recognize transaction".

This could be genuine request for information as details ( Payment to) shown on your buyer's credit card statement may not be same as your eBay member ID.

I would send buyer a message advising him that he has filed a charge back for eBay order number, Your eBay member ID, total amount, tracking number, date of delivery to his address, name of person who signed and if available a copy of signature and ask him to withdraw his charge back case as all information related to that charge is now available to him.

If available I would also upload copy of actual postage label showing buyer address that was used to send the item.

I note that you have done everything else that you are expected or allowed to do.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

Well, I sent him an email.

Not as nice as yours.  I was very to the point.  Some might say I was very clear in my thought process as to what he was doing.  So clear that a blind individual would still understand my tone and more.

He did not reply.   He's too busy sorting and arranging the minifigs/parts from my set for over $50 a pop.  He will make twice what he paid me, easy.

Just burns my flapjacks.  Thieves are mean, but blatant obvious thieves are heartless, low life scumbags.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

We shipped to the exact address as instructed by E-bay.  We purchased SC, but USPS delivered to CA addy and no one signed. Have asked USPS to explain, am guessing no help there either.

@katzrul15

Was your item of a price that required Signature Confirmation?   From the eBay page:

Protections for managed payment sellers

If a buyer files a payment dispute and the transaction is eligible for protection, we'll cover the amount of the dispute, and waive the fee, if the following is true for the same transaction prior to the payment dispute being received:

When a buyer reports that they don't recognize the transaction

You provided proof of delivery that included all of the following:

Tracking number provided by the shipping company (uploaded by the date indicated in the payment dispute notification)
A delivery status of "delivered"
Date of delivery
Recipient's address, matching the address on the order (including the city, county, zip code or international equivalent)
Proof of signature confirmation if an order has a total cost (including shipping and taxes) of $750 or more, uploaded as an image while contesting the payment dispute.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-protections?id=4345&st=12&pos=4&query=Sel...

Note the UNDERLINED portion above is mine.  There is no place to upload what they want for a $750+ sale anyway.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

@katzrul15  I just had a similar situation - our first ever chargeback.  The ebay rep said that once the buyer files a chargeback with their credit issuer, she said that legally, they (ebay) can no longer intercede as we are the actual seller. It does make sense from that standpoint - the bank deals only with the seller as ebay is a selling platform. And you're right, they give you one picture with a minimal amount of mb to explain and defend your position.

What you can do is file a police report in the location of the buyer where the item was shipped. If you sent it via USPS, there is also a case for mail fraud. Message the buyer on ebay letting them know that you have to file charges against them so they can find the person who hacked their account and was using their address to receive shipments.

Also, if you have any photos that show a serial  number or any other identifier unique to the item you sold, add that to your file on the case. Make sure you hang on to all info related to your case. Print everything as a hard copy as many messages, details, and records are only available for 30 days.

I really do wish ebay would find a way to protect sellers. Good Luck!

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

Tagging on,    Doing the math.

Buyer purchases on 5/21,    takes delivery on 5/24,   Claims he does not recognize the transaction on 5/27

6 whole days to forget he spent $292.00

I'd send him a message thru ebay messages.

"I don't understand what's going on with this transaction.   Please message me so we can figure out what happened.    USPS shows delivery to you.      You're out $292.00 right?.       If I lose both the lego set and the $292.00 I received  I'll have no choice but to pursue this as a theft,    If somebody got your CC# and bought this from me that's stealing.    If somebody got my Lego set by committing fraud,  that's also stealing.  You and I shouldn't allow this to happen,    We're both victims"

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

No - set was $292 with tax shipping.  We usually do SC on anything over $150 any more.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

Your email is nicer than mine.

I expected a Red donut for breakfast.  That's how not nice mine was.

Your email is much better.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

I fully understand your anger and frustration as no one likes being taken for a ride.

I hope I am never put in same position as you as I wouldn't like to find out if I would remain civil  or polite when dealing with some one whom I believe has stolen from me or is attempting to steal from me.

Unlikely but still possible that person making the chargeback is not the person who bought your items.

It may be worth checking address details of your competitor against address you shipped to.

Please keep in mind that eBay's escalation/ resolution team may look at messages between you and your buyer when they come to make a final decision therefore evidence you post in your messages may become crucial.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

@48hrs-clothing

Yes, another poster PM'd me about that also.

If I emailed you thru e-bay and sent the kind of message I did, and you were not doing what I allude to is happening, wouldn't you respond to explain?

I took screen shots today of his listings and the minifigs with the accessories and stuffs he has positioned in the photos.   All 4 listings up so far, represent pieces of the set I sold him.  All new listings on 5/26.  One listing sold 5/26 for $58 + shipping.

I guess it could be some big quinky dink.   I used to think Legos were no big deal.  Lately they are worse than electronics on here.

Re: Would you please Refresh my Memory on a Chargeback

If I was the buyer and the credit card holder who made the charge back claim then I would immediately respond by thanking you for sending the information and that charge back case is being withdrawn.

You messaging buyer with all transaction details hopefully gets viewed by the escalation team who will be making background checks and first thing they will look at is the buyers name and address against card holder's name and address followed by whatever other details like card security, passwords etc that were used to make the payment.

If I was the buyer but not the credit card holder who made the charge back claim then there would be total silence/ no communication.

Hope it all works out.

Good luck

Agreed - that is what I think too.

Thx - could just a few days of the mundane.  Going to leave our store on vacay mode until Sunday and take a little break from selling this weekend.
