Did you mean:

Would you correct buyers when they make invalid arguments? or would you let it slide?

A buyer purchased an item and complaining 2 weeks later that she thought it was a 3 piece lot, despite it not saying anything about being a lot. She then claimed she overpaid ($6) and could have gotten 2 piece lot for less then I sold my single (2 for $5 she said).

So I did a quick search, and of course the exact item lot of 2 was at cheapest 9 dollars, and even if you take a different similiar item, there was no lot for near the price she quoted (Did I mention she did best offer and got better rate?)

So I'm just wondering if other sellers would point this out to woman, or just leave it alone.

btw, I offered she should do return for full amount, but she says she in  Austrelia (I shipped USA, she had someone bring it to her) and she just wants to tell me BEFORE she leaves fedback....

If this is for one of your listings where you picture 3 items but in the description say it is for 1 only, not only should you NOT scold the buyer, you should apologize and either offer refund upon return - with you paying return shipping - or just refund.

Then fix your listings.

If you are selling 1 item, don't show a picture of 3 of them.

I can not tell you just how much I hate listings like yours. You have some with multiple pieces in the pics, and sold as lots, and others with multiple but only selling one and others with multiple pics, and you're selling TWO of the FOUR pictured. While the buyer is in the wrong, SO ARE YOU.

Re: Would you correct buyers when they make invalid arguments? or would you let it slide?

To repeat, the question I asked is if other sellers would point out that the argument she gave of being able to get it cheaper is faulty, as such listings don't exist...

And I did offer a free return. She can't do it because she is out of country and shipped to USA address.

I did not solicit opinions on my listings. I've sold quite a few of these already. 1 previously in that listing, and 3 before I relisted.

Go to Walmart dot com, search for wet n wild c143, they have it for $2.47.  I don't know if that's the exact same product you sold, but it appears to be.

Re: Would you correct buyers when they make invalid arguments? or would you let it slide?

When communicating with a buyer or seller it is best practice to stick to the topic and relevant facts.

The relevant fact is that she wants to return the item which is as described.

All other 'facts' are a distraction, and should a rep read your messages because of a dispute (which they can and may do) your arguements that don't stick to the relevant facts may distract the rep who will then judge in favor of the buyer because "it all got so messy"

Whether she can find it cheaper: irrelevant, ignore it.

Whether you can not find it cheaper: irrelevant, you wasted your time investigating it. ignore it.

Only discuss your policy and your ad, as succinctly as possible. "Just the facts mame". No opinion like "you obviously didn't read my TOS", "Are you trying to cheat me?" etc.

Rather,  write something like:

"My ad clearly shows what I am selling" (does it, or did you in fact have a photo of a 'set' but in the description wrote "this is only for one piece" -if so: you lose).

The ad was for "one widget" (quote your exact ad wording)

I shipped the item to "xxxx 1st Ave....", the address provided by your paypal account, and USPS tracking (provide number) shows that it was delivered ?/?/2018.

I am sorry you made a mistake. My return policy in this case is that you can mail the item back to me and I will refund your purchase price (minus shipping) upon receipt of the widget in the same condition as delivered.

2nd point, her feedback extortion will allow you to remove any negative feedback she does leave. It does depend on how she worded her threat and whether you got "into it" with her over this issue, or if you were able to remain professional ("just the facts mame".)

In any event, the above offer to allow a return should be enough to get the feedback removed.

Keep all eMails (do not delete) until the issue is resolved, or for 6 months.

Sure, you could point it out.  But if your own photo is misleading, then who's "right"?

I'd let it slide - and fix the listing(s) to reflect actuality.

Ahhhhh, Ebay. I remember the time my cat got into a picture of something I wanted to sell on ebay.

When I made the listing I specifically put in the listing in all caps.

Your question is moot.  You would never have gotten it if your listing weren't screwed up.

You are in no position to be condescending with your answers to this buyer.

I did not solicit opinions on my listings. I've sold quite a few of these already. 1 previously in that listing, and 3 before I relisted.

Your luck ran out.

You may even be violating eBay policy, which does not allow contradictory information in listings.  Such as picture of 3, but description says only 1.

Solicit them or not, you will get opinions.  It apparently won't help you but it may help others who come to the boards for information on what not to do.

Again the pics show 3 items. She rightfully expected 3 items. You should just refund even though she can’t return.

I defintely wouldn't argue that point with the buyer.  Your search may not show the same results as hers.   Pointing out why a buyer is wrong is rarely a good idea, and if I did anything that might have led to the problem, it's an even worse idea.
