Would you correct buyers when they make invalid arguments? or would you let it slide?

A buyer purchased an item and complaining 2 weeks later that she thought it was a 3 piece lot, despite it not saying anything about being a lot. She then claimed she overpaid ($6) and could have gotten 2 piece lot for less then I sold my single (2 for $5 she said).

So I did a quick search, and of course the exact item lot of 2 was at cheapest 9 dollars, and even if you take a different similiar item, there was no lot for near the price she quoted (Did I mention she did best offer and got better rate?)

So I'm just wondering if other sellers would point this out to woman, or just leave it alone.

btw, I offered she should do return for full amount, but she says she in  Austrelia (I shipped USA, she had someone bring it to her) and she just wants to tell me BEFORE she leaves fedback....

If you're here for drama, by all means "correcting" is the way to go.  If you're here to sell stuff, apologize for the "confusion" and learn from the experience.

To repeat, the question I asked is if other sellers would point out that the argument she gave of being able to get it cheaper is faulty, as such listings don't exist...

And I did offer a free return. She can't do it because she is out of country and shipped to USA address.

I did not solicit opinions on my listings. I've sold quite a few of these already. 1 previously in that listing, and 3 before I relisted.

Listing snafus notwithstanding, your buyer voided the MBG when she had the item reshipped. If a case is opened through Ebay you can call CS and have it closed in your favor, assuming you have the evidence in Ebay messages.

Your buyer can file through Paypal, but she will have to pay return shipping on her own.

That said, if the listing pictured three items, that's what should have been sent - three items.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

You're asking if sellers should correct  buyers, but you don't think sellers should correct sellers?

OK.

@pixzee @fern*wood @southern*sweet*tea
Thanks for articulate opinion.
All of you, For the record, I apologized right away-said I'll give complete refund for return, and apologized again. I also spoke to eBay customer service about the reship and the feedback blip...
I was just curious if anyone would point out that her argument that she could have gotten 2 on ebay cheaper was not really an argument....
Thanks for those that responded constructively & non judgmentally

This is a public board, and the audience reading the responses is a lot larger than just you.

The unsolicited advice that you were given (that you are inviting problems by picturing items that are not part of the listing) is widely considered to be a best practice and is perfectly valid and prudent.

Even if you prefer to get defensive rather than take this advice, there may be other sellers reading who are interested in improving their listings.

I am aware what this board is about! I've been around a while. And i never understood why people don't correct other sellers respectfully, like some did here. while others did not.

I actually ended the listing. It's not worth my trouble.

If she is out of the country you have to know a return is a non-starter. Plus she would be returning for your deceptive listing. I think you should refund without return and accept you were at least partially responsible for the issue.

I gave her partial refund and ended the listing. I was just asking about the correcting non valid price comparison part.

But you don't know for sure that her price comparison "argument" was false.

If, as you say, you've been "around here" for a while then you know good and well that one person's search results may not be identical to another's (yes, even on solds & completeds)

you stick by policy..."return for refund".... and the rest is her issue..shipped to another place...

i wouldn't say a thing , in fact say nothing really...and leave it.... you won't "win" and can not change a mind that has one thought....

return for refund...done and done.

Happy to hear that! Remember with future listings that mobile buyers have a hard time seeing descriptions and that all your listing parts (pictures, title, description, category and specifics) should be in alignment.

That is what I did actually.

Yes, plus many buyers simply don't read.
I closed my ebay store this month (had a store for many years and was TRS for most of it too) and am cutting down on my listings, as sales are down and the seller experience has gone down in quality.

I don't sell much here any more, I buy here and sell elsewhere. If it's any consolation my buying experience has degraded as well. Ebay is systematically destroying the personality of the marketplace and replacing it with a plastic shell.

I didn't reseach the OPs recently sold items ror two reasons.

1. It shouldn't effect my answer, which included:

"The relevant fact is that she wants to return the item which is as described."

"Rather,  write something like:"My ad clearly shows what I am selling" (does it, or did you in fact have a photo of a 'set' but in the description wrote "this is only for one piece" -if so: you lose)."

2. people do seach these forums before posting a question, to look for and answer to their own inquiry. I often try to write answers with that in mind.
