So I sold a thing. The day after the auction I messaged her saying I would ship the item out as soon as payment was made. Later that day, more than 24 hours after the auction ended, I hadn't heard from her, so I asked if she still wanted it. If not, I could second chance offer it, no big deal.
She messages back: "Fine offer it to the next bidder I won't do business with you I just got back in town and yesterday was a holiday I haven't even got a chance to log in"
Uhhh. okay. The holiday was MLK day. I didn't realize people put their computers and phones away then.
I message back saying I was just asking because I hadn't heard anything from her.
She says go ahead and cancel the order and she's not buying from me. She'll buy from someone else who cares about their customers and it sounds like I'm hurting for money. Oh and that I should be nicer next time so I keep customers.
Wow ok. I told her I wasn't a business and I am hurting for money because I'm getting married this year and I'm scraping all the money I have together to pay for it.
Anyway, she left negative feedback saying I demand payment 1 minute after auction ends. 24 hours is a minute apparently.
I set up a cancellation and she hasn't responded to anything. She has 0 feedback and has only had the account open since september, so what do I do? eBay customer service is horrible apparently. I can't find anywhere to contact them through email or phone over this matter. I feel bad for anyone who sells stuff on the regular.

I mean, I don't care about my ebay score. I rarely use ebay. Obviously. How would you combat a blatant lie thrown at you?

Second chance offer won't work because you only had two bidders and if you back the loser out it takes the price back to $86.00 the loser was also the price driver that picked up a follower...
Huh??

True. I haven't sold anything on ebay in 5+ years probably. Back in the day it was common courtesy to communicate with people buying or selling. I sold 2 things that day. The other item was paid for right away and shipped the same day. That probably threw me off a bit that the other was just sitting there.

southern what part of that statement confuses you? Its a complexed system to understand and deals a lot with buyers train of thought...

What's done is done. I hope you can get your final value fees refunded on that sale.

Ok maybe hyperbole wasnt called for in this case but it wasnt entirely untrue. You were kinda unreasonable in your timeframe and hostile in your payment demands.

What payment demands? The only time I mentioned payment was my first message saying, verbatim, "Hi. I will ship as soon as payment is made. Thanks!"
and that message was sent the following day. Not a minute after it ended.

Girl, you gotta make 'em want to puke from kindness! No matter how nasty and snarky they get, you have to be all blossoms and butterflies.
It stinks for those of us who want to school the nasties, but that's the way it has to be. Type what you really want to say, DON'T SEND IT, delete it, and then type what you actually need to say instead, if anything. I've learned the hard way that the less communication you have between buyer and seller, the better.
Thereare exceptions, of course. Some buyers are extremely kind and courteous. Those are the ones that make what we do worthwhile.
Oh, and that ka-ching sound is pretty sweet, too.

Most folks read what buyers left for feedback and in your case ebay sent the pay NOW email 5 seconds after the item sold not you so buyer did lie,but when you left the stop lying it painted you as a bad seller bad bad bad. You just need to concern yourself now with recovering the $17.00 ebay stuck you with for FVFs. They make a ton of money from folks who just give up and don't collect what they are owed...

I usually send the invoice in 24 hours and say something like:
"We are reserving this item for you, and it is ready to be shipped when payment is received. You can proceed to checkout to make payment, or you can send us a message and request to cancel.
Thank you for your order!"
Then I wait for their payment or response. If no payment is made or request to cancel, I open a UPI case to get my final value fee credited to me. Then I place them on block, especially if they are nasty about it.

Oh I'm not gonna forget about it. It's about principle now. I'm not selling on ebay again if I can help it. Especially not if they screw me out of the fees after all the nonsense about protecting sellers.

That's basically what I did, but people here are saying I was snarky and rude to her. I feel like I'm part of a big group troll right now.

Um, everything?
I'mt trying to wade through the typos (not judging, just saying it's making what you're writing difficult to decipher) so I can:
And yeah, that's pretty much it.
Of course I've only had one cup of coffee today, so it's probably just me.

ebays one of the few places you can purchase stuff and maybe pay for it maybe not just pay for it when you feel like it kind of attitude because ebay doesn't care they've got their money and will wish you good luck collecting yours...
