Worst buyer ever. How to cancel when she won't respond?

So I sold a thing. The day after the auction I messaged her saying I would ship the item out as soon as payment was made. Later that day, more than 24 hours after the auction ended, I hadn't heard from her, so I asked if she still wanted it. If not, I could second chance offer it, no big deal.

She messages back: "Fine offer it to the next bidder I won't do business with you I just got back in town and yesterday was a holiday I haven't even got a chance to log in"

Uhhh. okay. The holiday was MLK day. I didn't realize people put their computers and phones away then.

I message back saying I was just asking because I hadn't heard anything from her.

She says go ahead and cancel the order and she's not buying from me. She'll buy from someone else who cares about their customers and it sounds like I'm hurting for money. Oh and that I should be nicer next time so I keep customers.

Wow ok. I told her I wasn't a business and I am hurting for money because I'm getting married this year and I'm scraping all the money I have together to pay for it.

Anyway, she left negative feedback saying I demand payment 1 minute after auction ends. 24 hours is a minute apparently.

I set up a cancellation and she hasn't responded to anything. She has 0 feedback and has only had the account open since september, so what do I do? eBay customer service is horrible apparently. I can't find anywhere to contact them through email or phone over this matter. I feel bad for anyone who sells stuff on the regular.

Some people only have computers at work. Others need to transfer money to make payments.  Be a little more flexible with your buyers.  For all you know, she could have had her eye on other of your items or was waiting for payments from her own sales.

Open a unpaid item dispute when they don't pay it the feedback they left will be removed. Don't have anymore communication with them you're just digging your hole a little deeper if you do...

She Said "Fine, Cancel". So you can cancel as "requested by buyer". You should not get a negative for this.

This is what I think. But I havent been thinking straight, lately.

While there are issues with selling regularly, your current problem should not be one of them.  It is entirely self-inflicted.

You can't enforce any payment deadline less than 6 days.  That's the shortest time you can open and then close an Unpaid Item Dispute.  So getting snarky with a buyer who hasn't paid after 24 hours or less is not going to end well.

As for the cancellation if the buyer needs to respond but doesn't, move on.  Take the loss of fees as tuition for learning not to harass buyers for payment prematurely.

This is the only advice you will ever need:

Learn eBay's rules and follow them.  eBay would tell you to wait 48 hours and open an unpaid item dispute. Don't ask them anything, don't inquire, debate.  Just do what you are suppose to do.

By the way, in addition to the negative feedback you now have to pay final value fees on the unsold item.  Learn, then do.  Not the other way around.

In my opinion this is abuse of the Buyer Requested cancellation.  Buyer did not request to cancel, seller offered it and buyer agreed with the offer.

kackerotgoku

More advice.  If you plan to sell anything else start a new ID.

Your response to the neg was worse than the neg itself.

The buyer clearly stated "I won't do buiness with you."  I think that supports a buyer requested cancellation.  However, the whole thing wouldn't have happened if the seller didn't have ants in their pants.

I side with the buyer. Patience. Why this rush for payment? You ship once you get payment. I never email any buyer demanding payment. If the buyer does not pay, I let the Unpaid Item Assistant do its job.

Buyer wasn't going to pay anyhow. Once they won ebay showed them GOTCHA SUCKER like items cheaper and they decided they didn't want what they just purchased. Second chance offer won't work because you only had two bidders and if you back the loser out it takes the price back to $86.00 the loser was also the price driver that picked up a follower...

You were too fast on the draw.  Not all of us here are "businesses" and we also need to make sales and get paid - some to pay for rent or medical bills or some to pay off a car or just take a vacation.  Doesnt matter - buyers DO NOT CARE why you are selling.  They just want stuff at the price they are willing to pay and your role is to list it and ship it out to them.  I have now been on Ebay for over half my life (my mom and aunt were sellers here when I was growing up so we literally were an Ebay family and bought everything from fruitcake to cars, clothes furniture dishes, video games, etc).  In all my time as either a buyer or seller, there has been little if any communication between buyer and seller.  It just isnt necessary.  Find, buy, pay, get.  Its that easy.  Brush up on the Ebay rules and practices.  With low feedback a neg lowers your feedback rating significantly.

You demanded payment prematurely AND made yourself look bad in follow up feedback. I agree, learn the rules then get a new id. You can use this one for buying. I'd never buy from someone who answered a buyer like that.

YOU drove this off into the ditch. You have no idea whether she was going to pay or not before you became obnoxious.

BTW if you think that's the "worst buyer ever" you have much to learn.
