Why would buyer leave a negative immediately over an allegeged broken zipper w/o asking to return?

Also why does this buyer's feedback profile only show feedback sellers left him, but have nothing to show for what he left sellers? He has bought a lot. Can they hide what they have left but show what sellers left them?

Why leave an immediate negative without even contacting me? Why would he keep an item with a "faulty" zipper, wouldn't he rather return it? I test all zippers carefully before listing, and this item looked like it had been worn only a couple times. Arc'teryx doesn't use cheap zippers. Buyer lied about a faulty zipper. Why? Also dinged me on shipping badly! When I've lowered shipping to flat low amounts. I went down 9/10's a % from the neg. With 400 sales one neg takes you from 100% to 99.1% Shipping down from 4.9 to 4.8 after staying at 4.9 for 2 years, and I recently changed to lower flat rates.

I think buyer was acting vindictively. Lives in D.C. that says a lot. 😁

You'll find lots of noobs do drive bys.

It's because ebay doesn't make them understand how ebay works. You have to tell them.

Walk them though how to start a return, you might get them to revise feedback for helping them understand.

For me the more the sale was, the less I want to help.

Each situation should be taken case by case.  Without the details of what transpired on your situation, there is no way for any of us to know what was the correct action and what wasn't.

Something I see all the time on the thread is a seller being taken aback by a buyer filing a claim on pretty much any date late into the 30 day return period.  It is ridiculous, but lots of sellers say they can't believe Ebay allowed a buyer to open a claim on day 28, 29.  You offered a 30 day policy, so the buyer had up to 30 days, why that surprises anyone is a surprise to me.

There are many clueless buyers who do not know about the MBG or how to place a claim.

Some of them have been buying on Ebay for decades and been told to pound sand for decades. They leave negative FB because they know they can, and do not know anything else.

It is not much worse than sellers who think that 1 negative out of 400 FB will affect their business.

There is way too much drama about FB.

He lied. Zipper was perfect. It was 100% vindictive. Why is what I'm wondering about.

He's an experience long term shopper and seller too. It was a drive by shooting. He has lots of glowing feedback from sellers he's chummy with. He sells the same product, I think it was for the pleasure of smearing the competition. Most strange to me, why is the negative not on his feedback profile? Does eBay allow red smears to be given covertly, they can maintain a perfect profile and damage other sellers and it never shows in their end?

All I can say with certainty is I've had many garment with zippers and they have worked perfectly until they didn't.  That is with new or newer items as well as some that are more well loved.

I believe you that the zipper worked perfectly before you shipped it.  I personally take no issue with that.  However that does not make the buyer a liar because they are saying it didn't.

Buyer won't say a word to my messaging attempts. Zipper was never broken. The negative isn't on his profile, why? What is disturbing is why lie, just ask to return it. He knows the system well. It was to smear the competition. He sells the same high end sporting brand. Can drive bys leave negs that never show on their feedback page?

Buyers can not get negative feedback.  You as a seller can not post negative feedback.  If you want to see the negative feedback they posted for you, look under the tab on their feedback page Left For others.

If you want to send me a link to their feedback page in the Private Messages [envelope icon, top right side of the screen], I'll be happy to look.  If it is on your feedback page as being posted by them, then it is in their feedback left for others.

I won't argue with you, you are firm in your belief and you have every right to believe what you feel is true.

Do you know the system? Buyers never receive negative feedbacks. If a buyer left you a negative feedback, it will show up on their feedback page in the “left for others” section. Not the feedback received section because quite frankly they left the feedback and you received it.

I UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION THIS CAN CAUSE. THAT BEING SAID THE REASONS SUM BUYERS DO THIS DISPICABLE  ACT  OF WARFARE ...... IS SIMPLY B3CAUSE THEY CAN .

THE FAULT HERE IS NOT THE DWELLER WHO LEFT THE NEGITIVE F/B ,,,, BUT IS ANOTHERS , ANOTHER WHO IS VERY POWERFULL AND VERY CLOSE ,,,,,, ONE WHO IS ALWAYS THERE AROUND EVERY CORNER WHERE EVER YOU GO.

I CALL THIS SLIPPERY THING  " BIG BROTHER" ..... AKA "EBAY" ,  ONCE UPON A TIME , MANY MOONS AGO , THE FEEDBACK  SYSTEM WAS JUST FLAWED, NOW ITS OUT OF CONTROL

BUYERS NOW CAN   *WRITE A BOOK  ,  *MAKE A MOVIE ,  *POST IT TO MESSAGE BOARDS ........ AND YES LEAVE A BIG GIANT RED NEGITIVE, WITH A SIMPLE POKE WITH THEIR CRUSTY FINGER.

THE F/B SYSTEM  WAS NOT CREATED OVER NIGHT ..... IT TOOK EBAY MANY YEARS TO GET IT WHERE IT IS TODAY ..... AND ITS A WORK IN PROGRESS , YOU CAN COUNT YOUR FEE'S ON THAT . BE EXTORTED , OR USE THE TOOLS PROVIDED TO "FLIP THE SCRIPT"

THE ONLY ONE THING YOU HAVE FOR THESE F/B LEAVERS IS TO USE YOUR REPLY ICON AND LET EM HAVE IT BACK ,,,,, YOU HAVE THE LAST WORD, DO WHAT YOU MUST .

THE REASONS BUYERS DO THIS IS SO YOU COME BEGGIN FOR THEM TO REVISE THE F/B SO THEY CAN EXTORT YOU FOR MONEY OR THE LIKE ....EBAY WONT HELP YOU , FOR IT WAS THEM THAT EMPOWERED THESE DWELLERS.

I WARE ANY NEGITIVE WITH HONOR, I WOULD NEVER ASK, BEG OR NEGOTIATE WITH EBAYS EMPOWERED EXTORTION TEAM.

TRY WHAT I OFFER YOU AND I BET TOMORROW WILL BE A BETTER DAY.

C.G.

P.S. I HAVE NOT THE TIME TO HELP WITH PART #2 , AND HOPE TO DO SO SOON, THANK YOU AND KEEP MARCHIN ON !!

This is horrible and destructive advice for sellers.  This hurts the seller not the buyer.  We have seen it many times.  Sellers that can't separate a business transaction and take it as a personal attack, so they respond that way and often post a response that is worse than the feedback the buyer posted.

All that does it make the seller look bad to potential buyers who may review your feedback and possibly send them moving on to find a different seller.  It is best to keep it professional and without emotion.

This is a frustrating merchandise return (I've had them myself and will probably soon get smacked with a neg for something not my fault).  It is not warfare.

ETA: In other words, don't take it so personally - this business takes a lot of nerve and a thick skin.
