I need to post it on dot.com here as I posted this on dot.ca and got nowhere. I want to know this
I already setup for Managed Payment and provided my ID and documentation. I received a confirmation from ebay that I can now sell and accept payments in the Managed Payment.
Why have I received an email weeks later from ebay asking to provide identification. Ebay is asking for either a drivers license or passport, neither of which i have.
Ebay went thru this id with the managed payment setup so they have my information.
The email i received is as follows:
To comply with eBay policy on cross-border selling, we need a government-issued ID so you can sell internationally.
As per Canadian law, acceptable forms if IDENTIFCATION is as follows:
You can use any of the following types of ID alone or in combination to meet the above requirements:
EBAY Support tells me that they will hold any funds on sale until i get a drivers license or passport. This has created a vacuum here with a poor thought out process.
EBAY, IF I ALREADY HAVE BEEN SETUP FOR MANAGED PAYMENT SYSTEM AND ID PROVIDED, WHY ARE YOU ASKING AGAIN FOR THIS?

Hmm from what I can see about you feedback and your listings this is a security issue.
Long time no use and now selling??

so, did you try entering one of those other forms of id?

No it doesn't work the tool only accepts drivers license and passport info. Ebay fails to address this concern. How many people don't have driver license or a valid passport. Covid 19 has create long delays in passport renewals.. And why passports, Canada is still in a travel restriction zone. This is really poor thought out process from ebay.
And another thing, I have already been setup for managed payment system and my ID has been confirmed.
You see how frustrating this is?

No, I signed up for managed payment system and Ebay confirmed everything is fine. These seems like some misguided AI Bot algorithm that tagged me incorrectly. Speaking with CS support failed to address this. Quite frankly CS didn't care about this issues and closed it.

I had my eBay account of 23 years...selling the entire time.
Went to managed payments over a year ago...No requirement for ID at that time.
I have called Customer Service twice, asked to speak to a supervisor after getting totally frustrated with agent. (Second time I provided option of just closing my store at end of month and eBay NOT charge me for the remaining 6 months on subscription) Both times, no supervisor available but they will call within 24 hours. It now has been 10 days and 3 days...no phone call follow-up.
Closing my store, ending my 10K+ items and will no longer sell on eBay as they customer service is a joke and this requirement was never explained.
