I posted an item for sale in October and nobody was interested in it for a long time so I stopped checking it...
Until I logged back in in March and realized the item was actually sold back in February and the buyer has already applied for a refund which was successful.
This happened because I was not properly notified by Ebay on the sale. Why doesn't Ebay flag sales notifications as 'important'? Instead it puts them among bunch other promotional messages, where it is quite hard to notice items requiring action?
Just look at the screenshot attached and tell me, how am I supposed to notice this important notification among the bunch of spam?

I always see a little red dot on my tablets and computer when I make the sale. On 1 tablet, I can actually hear the cha-ching sound. I don't always get the emails from ebay but I look at MY EBAY every day. I have 2 selling accounts so I need to check every day. You now have a defect on your account. Be grateful that the buyer has not posted a negative.

Hi Guys!
This may help you all…your OWN device can notify you when you get any eBay email.
(Nerds, stop reading here if you know this 👋)
The trick is to make eBay emails VIP, so you get a notification on you device.
This works for apple devices, but I’m sure there’s an equivalent for android…
to begin…
Go to your email inbox.
click on ANY eBay email you’ve received (doesn’t matter what it was.)
(Click on pics to enlarge)
step 1 - click on “eBay” at From …
step 2 - a drop down list will appear. Click on “Add to VIP”, hit done.
When you get any email from eBay you will get a notification. What that notification is (sound or banner) is up to you. (Go to Settings on your device to adjust notifications to your liking. )
(To reverse this, click on any eBay email again, tap eBay, remove VIP. This works for any incoming email. You can also go to your contacts to designate anyone a VIP. )
I hope this helps!

Do you not have your messages and sold items tagged to your email account and Iphone? I get a notification on my Iphone and to my yahoo account.

Apparently thats not enough for the op,and you dont have to be a 'rock star'(tired old cliche that has been beat to death on this board,) to know that.Maybe Ebay could send him a telegram when he has a sale.

That's one of the things that really bugs me about the world today. eBay doesn't owe you a thing except a place to sell things, and then to get you your money when someone buys. If you've got something listed for sale on eBay, then you check daily to see if it's sold or someone has a question. Everyone anymore thinks the world owes it to them to make it easy. It does not. Is your life so busy that you can't spend maybe 5 minutes to check? I doubt that very much. You lost your opportunity to sell your listing, and that's on you, not eBay.

One sellers spam is another seller's means of connecting and communicating with the website
he or she is doing business with and on.
Everyday we see ebay members on this board posting that ebay has become too complicated.
Then we also see ebay members deliberately cutting themselves off from all outside contact,
and ignoring ebay messages from...... Well, everybody.

Wow, yeah that is on you. You are the one running your business and if you have something listed and want to take some time away you have to shut it down. Same thing if you had your own website and just ignored it for a few months. You could have some very unhappy customers.

Seriously? I have a device open on eBay all day, every day, except when I sleep.
Either you are serious about selling on eBay or you're not.
