I posted an item for sale in October and nobody was interested in it for a long time so I stopped checking it...
Until I logged back in in March and realized the item was actually sold back in February and the buyer has already applied for a refund which was successful.
This happened because I was not properly notified by Ebay on the sale. Why doesn't Ebay flag sales notifications as 'important'? Instead it puts them among bunch other promotional messages, where it is quite hard to notice items requiring action?
Just look at the screenshot attached and tell me, how am I supposed to notice this important notification among the bunch of spam?

Ebay could send us an email to brush our teeth each morning.............wouldn't help if no one opened the email...........
Ebay does send emails about sold listings.....unless OP has opted not to receive them or it goes into an email spam folder.....or it it is not lost in the transmission as is so often noted here on these boards....or OP doesn't open them.........
FACT is if someone wants to sell here, he has an obligation to himself/ebay/his buyer (s) to check Solds......not messages.......everyday. If OP isn't willing to do that.....he shouldn't be selling here.........
In my opinion, anyone that argues against that.......does a disservice to a Poster, ebay and buyers.

LOL..thanks for arguing OUR CASE for us!
Of course, it's currently necessary, but it shouldn't be. It would be an easy fix for one of eBay's overpaid change-for-change's-sake IT people. But, that would actually help people....lol.

that's 6 weeks of email.....never checked to see if a buyer might have a question?
12 whole messages....that's 2 per week.....
that "made a sale" sat on the top line for at least 5 days
this screenshot hardly qualifies as "spam"
there is so much wrong with this thread subject
"...Checking ten time a day...seventy times a week...for a single sale is not a time efficient or necessary way of doing business..."
agreed, but checking once in 3 months is way too extreme too, and blaming someone else for your own inadequacies should be addressed.....
Note: I love the cha-ching on my phone (push notification) when i get a sale...it also shows up in my email and on my seller hub.

@stevemartin60 LOL...thanks for engaging. It may be nice for some for e Bay to wipe our butt for us as well. For MOST of the sellers here it is not necessary for e Bay to coddle us. Most sellers here look at e Bay as a serious endeavor.
We want to do what we need to do to make money, make buyers happy and most importantly keep e Bay out of our business.

Oh, I fully suspect eBay not to make a simple change that would save people time and effort. That just wouldn't be in their nature.

Out of all those emails shown, the title "You made the sale" stands out immediately, at least to my eye. I would certainly open it if I were checking my email regularly.
I don't look at emails though, I check Ebay at least once or twice a day even though I rarely sell anything now. Same thing selling on Hip Postcards now and when I sold on Amazon, Mercari and (lol) Bonanza in the past. I always checked the actual seller dashboards at least once a day.
Emails can be delayed by minutes, hours, days or may never arrive, no matter who sends the email.

We're all forgetting that not only did the OP not see the original sales message he also didn't see the LATE reminder to ship, The INR case filed message, The late warning for the INR case, The message telling him that the INR case was closed in the poor neglected buyer's favor (Thank God)
In his message folder is at least 5 or 6 notices regarding this one transaction.
I can't believe we're even having this discussion.

I'd be more concerned with the banking aspect. Not at all curious about a bank deposit and similar deduction?

@stevemartin60 "That bell doesn't even work on a lot of devices."
It works on my devices but I also said I check the seller hub everyday so I don't rely on one form of notification.

Why ebay doesn't flag sales notifications as 'important'
Because they expect sellers to log into their eBay account regularly and not rely on courtesy emails.

Why would a seller need to check each item individually? That is exactly what the summary in the seller hub is for - to give an overview of all sales activity.

That is your inbox, you mark it as important or create a rule that does it for you. Not all email has that functionality on the send end that can be universally received.
Sorry you missed out on your sale.

I sure don't just rely on the ebay messaging system for my notifications.
Email on my phone (which I check constantly)
The ebay app with a Ka-Ching sound when a sale happens
I check the app at LEAST 3-4 times a day for notifications
But even with all of that...somehow...I missed seeing a notification for a sale a couple of months ago and shipped a package a day late. Go figure....

I has disabled most notifications on Ebay (You can do that in your account settings).
The only messages I get on Ebay AND in my Email are questions from buyers, you have a sold a item message, your buyer has paid message, your payout has been sent and important messages from ebay such as changes to T & Cs, Seller updates, rule changes etc...
I never get spam from Ebay
