Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

Yep, when I see that my listings, when they appear on search, Ebay shows a 4 day shipping even though I have all my listings now as 3 day shipping.

I get that too! I have 3 days shipping, and I see "sometimes" it says 3 days or "other" times 4 days, depending on whatever mood it feels like displaying.

Maybe it is due to the time of day someone is looking at it.  If it is 6 pm, you wouldn't ship today.  So counting today, with 3 days shipping, it would 4 days.

The "4 Day Shipping" is not the handling time.

It is Ebay's new & improved way of telling the buyer they will receive their purchase in 4 days.

It should probably say "4 Day Delivery" but I don't think they will change it.

This new program was announced here:

I think what you are seeing are the latest changes to

the way they display (Fast ‘N Free) on your listings.

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

I am sorry, but none of Ebay's announcements regarding " Fast ‘N Free" make any sense on this matter.  I have 3-day shipping, usually quicker, so this 4-day nomenclature nonsense seems to me just another instance of the B-team in action. And that is of course why Ebay uses the brand name "eBay".

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

You don’t have 3 day shipping you have a 3 day handling time.  The 4 day shipping refers to the time from purchase to arrival for someone in your zip code area.  So basically they are saying that if you mail the item on the 3rd day It should be delivered to a buyer in your area the following day. When I use a zip in your city I see that message on some of your listings, when I use a Cali zip, that message disappears.

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

If you are using media mail which is 2-8 days with the handling of 3 days it would be at least 5 days to arrive so I don't think the 4 day ship refers to arrival time.  My best guess is 3 days handling count the following three days before it is to be mailed so the 4 days refers to that time and including today.  If someone bought today it wouldn't have to be shipped until Thursday 4 days if you count today but 72hrs later for handling is Thursday

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

I’m reading it as you have it set (pretty much telling ebay) that you ship out in 3 business days (handling). But in the screenshot, ebay is giving the ETA of 4 days... buy today, get the item 4 days from now.

Pretty stupid of ebay if you ask me. Classic case of ebay over promising delivery times to the buyer and leaving the seller to do damage control when those promises aren’t kept.

I get what you are saying.  I have a 3 day handling time and being in my own zip code Ebay assumes a one day delivery making a 4 day shipping window.  But, as a buyer, I would parse it as 4 day handling time.  Ebay needs to hire someone to edit better and to avoid such potential ambiguity such as between handling time and shipping delivery time as delivery time has always been an estimate at best.

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

For the same day our items with 10 day handling time items with 3 day shipping say "4 day shipping!"

EBay's shipping has been absolutely screwy for a long time now. In many cases it is NOT COUNTING the handling time!

Your item that you show is 3 day handling time, but 2-8 day shipping. Yet it's stating 4 days. This means it's estimating 4 days for shipping, and NOT counting your handling time.

Because IF it was counting your handling time, it would be 3 days + 2 at a minimum = 5 days.

@m60driver

Personally, I don't think ebay gives a hang about a seller's handling time and is smooching up to some buyers by telling them that they will have their item in 4 days.  From what I keep reading from seller's posts, ebay using the seller's 'history' on shipping, handling time is basically disregarded.  Possibly have to compete with other platforms delivery performance claims and actions.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Re: Why does my 3-day shipping show as 4-day?

Is seems eBay's tech department doesn't understand the difference between 'shipping' and 'receiving.'

They've done this to my listings too and as a TRS I am required to ship within one day or my account gets dinged. Not to mention that when eBay tells me an item has been paid for they always send me a 'friendly reminder' that I must ship on the NEXT BUSINESS DAY.

I've called eBay customer service 4 or 5 times... eBay fixes it... Then in a few days it's back.

I've had to waste 22 spaces of my listing title bar to say: "- FREE 1 DAY SHIPPING

I've also have added:

"Don't be misled if you see  "Free 4 day shipping" on my rings in eBay search. I didn't put it there... eBay did.

ALL my rings ship FREE 1 DAY SHIPPING, and if you order before 9am Pacific it will ship the same day."

But it just keeps coming back... Maybe we could all chip in and buy them a dictionary because someone there really doesn't understand.
