Can someone explain the "final value fees" to me.
My sales get assessed an Ebay fee (which I understabd is a % of the selling price) but then there seems to be this second "final value fee" charged.
I don't understand?
As you can tell I'm fairly new to selling on Ebay.

Hi, If the shipping charge is separate then you will see 2 fees on your account. One is for the item price and then the other is on the shipping. That would say "Final Value Fee on Shipping". You can see more about fees here:

Fees have changed since Managed Payments, and those fees are charged in different ways also depending if your in Managed Payments or your in Managed Payments and have a store subscription, in which the fees are also different depending on the tier of store subscription you have. Starter store has higher Final Value Fees (FVF) and a small discount if you have a Basic and Up Store tier.
These fees if you are store subscriber fall under here: https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-fees/store-fees?id=4809#section3
Regardless of store subscriber or not, there will be a $0.30 Transaction Fee on all transactions (non-refundable)
As @carlmye_0 explained there is also a additional fee if you charge for shipping (I don't, everything is "free" shipping (nothing is free, I still pay for it, cost is just added into the total sale price) can't remember what that fee is but last I knew it was 10% of the shipping cost.
Be sure to also understand there is another charge that will be added to your sales if you sell outside your country of origin, or if you don't but someone in another country purchases your item to have it shipped within your country of sale there will be another fee tacked onto your fees that will sat "International Selling Fee" and will be different based on the country of origin of the buyer.
If your listings are TRP qualified you receive a 10% discount on FVF, that discount is clearly listed on you sale fees on each transaction in Managed Payments "All Transactions" on each sale.
Also good idea to swing by the Spring Seller Update and read about changed to Final Value Fees etc... which ebay just introduced.

(Can someone explain the "final value fees" to me.)
When your item sells the Final value Fee is a percentage of the total
that the buyers pays you. That includes the price of the item plus any
shipping charges and sales tax if any. Then they tack on $0.30 for
processing the payment.
You are in eBay Managed Payments and you do not have a store
so the links provided bellow would be correct for you to see
all the fees.

no, the fee on shipping is 10%, your talking about the FVF on items...and some fvf's are lower then 12.35%, for instance I pay 11.7% (Music > Records - as of Spring Seller Update, use to be prior 11.5%), it all depends on if you are store subscriber or not, starter or basic and up. If you in Managed Payments and not a store subscriber your going to pay the highest FVF's ebay has. But the FVF on SHIPPING is 10% of the shipping service if charge for shipping.

The FVF rate on shipping is the same as whatever the rate is for the selling price.
Yes, the rate varies depending on store subscription and category. The OP is in Managed Payments and doesn't have a store, so the FVF rate in MOST categories will be 12.55%. As you can see on the linked page, this is the rate for "the total amount of the sale". Higher up on the page, eBay explains, "The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees."

I know what that says, it doesn't say "fvf on shipping is the same as FVF of item" - maybe ebay changed the FVF portion of shipping to be the same of the item now..idk, but in any case that's why offer free shipping and don't get the extra charge. It's easy to figure postage into the total price, at least anything you sell that requires the same packaging/shipping method - like me, media mail is $3.45-$4.01 for 1 lbs 12 oz - 2 lbs 4 oz 14x14x2 box that cost is just figured in + the price of the box, and supplies used (it's little under $6 total atm).
