Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

I was a PowerSeller for several years then took about 10 years off. I have recently started selling again and I do excellent packing and communication. Sell quality stuff etc.. Out of 14 sales, I only received 4 feedbacks. I looked at the buyers page and they don’t leave feedback for anyone. They get tons of positive feedback and leave zip, nada, none!! Can anyone tell me why this is???

Perhaps the days of being grateful for good service is over and now it is just what is expected by the buyer?

'Sides, they don't have to leave feedback, and it takes so much time and thought.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

You are only leaving feedback for your buyers after they have given you feedback this is why you are not receiving more.

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

Wondered that myself for the longest time! Like you, wrapping items with care, shipping ASAP, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that a majority of buyers just don’t even think about it. Not that they don’t care, just that they seriously don’t give it a second thought! They find such n such item, purchase, receive, repeat.

The majority of feedback I’ve received has been from long time buyers/sellers or super newbies trying to build their feedback so they can then sell.

10 years ago, it was a “different” atmosphere. Buying/selling has become almost mundane to so many. If you try to figure out “why” people do anything, you will drive yourself crazy!

If you continue to offer great service, you will stay true to yourself and the feedback will come and in the long run will mean so much more!

Much success & many blessings,

Sabrina

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

You have received 587 fb and left 557: That is an awesome ratio. As said 25% is about the norm these days. EBay doesn’t count it for or against you and, unless your percentage shown is just horrible most people don’t  bother to look at it. I rarely bother.

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

My feeling regarding feedback, as a seller, is that the transaction is complete, in regards to feedback, not after the purchase and my shipping their item, but it is complete when it is received and the customer leaves their feedback, good, bad or indifferent. I then leave mine. This is done for many reasons, problems with the order, breakage ( I ship many items that are fragile) and just plain avoiding any back and forth. I always leave feedback when I purchase an item after receiving it. I never ask for feedback either as a seller or as a buyer. Just my way.

My hope is that we all have a safe and prosperous weekend, with or without feedback.

Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback

I think there are many reasons that all contribute to a lack of buyer feedback:

  • there is no incentive to a buyer leaving feedback
  • the process itself is cumbersome
  • buyers can turn off reminders
  • feedback is not mandatory

I have a handful of selling accounts, but as a buyer I find leaving feedback tedious and annoying and I generally only do it en masse once every couple weeks.

In fact, as I type this I feel a little guilty as I probably haven't done it in a while ...

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

Some buyers are just content to buy things and as long as they get what they paid for or what they expected to get they're satisfied.  Others might be too busy with their everyday life to leave feedback; they forget or leaving feedback is not something they feel strongly about especially if everything went smoothly.

Lol cute Sabrina, "super newbees"!  I agree it is nice to get recognition for good packaging, shipping, items etc but a lot of buyers just don't bother with nice words but give them the chance to leave a " red donut" and they're on it faster than Leroy on a rocket!

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

Back when Ebay first started there was a fad going on as no one had feedback so everyone just did it. Today it is no interest to buyers as it is just like any other product you purchase on line. Buyers don't really give it a second thought. Go back and look at something you recently purchased outside of Ebay. Did you leave feedback/review ? Check on something that a big store sells and see how many reviews. They probably sell thousands upon thousands of those items but yet you will see no more than about 50 reviews.

Re: Why are so many eBayer’s not leaving feedback???

Should i leave feedback when the buyer pays -or- should i leave feedback when the buyer leaves me feedback?

Which is the correct way?

It's voluntary and up to your discretion, personal preference and which way the wind is blowing - just like whether or not one leaves feedback.  😁
