As a parent and grandparent, I have a real problem with this. Listing children’s toys and porn magazines in the same store is unacceptable. Did a search for a particular Barbie doll. Found one. Considered purchasing it. Looked to see what else the seller had for possible savings on multiple items shipping. I was disappointed to find among more Barbie dolls there were human porn magazines with extremely graphic covers. If ebay is allowing and promoting this mix of children’s toys and porn, I can’t sell here any more.

In any event, you can thank them for streaming video, high end graphics, broadband etc. While these things would probably have happened anyway they certainly sped up the process dramatically. When the dotcom bubble burst all the porn and gambling sites survived and prospered.
I don't doubt it - says something about our society LOL. T&A - driven progress!
ETA: In any case, I think porn's effect on R&D is a little over-rated.

Thank you!!!! There was no offense intended to anyone in my post. My first post was "live and let live" and I stand by it.

2. The second or third comment tells me how to report it, which I did. Had you read that and the several times I’ve acknowledged that, you’d know that.
3. No poster specified gay sex as being the issue. The issue is porn and toys in the same store where the porn is not in the adult category. Whether or not it was intentional by the seller, as you noted, we do not know. However, the sellers intention is not relevant to the fact it violates policy and is against the law. And there is a reason why it violates policy and the law. And those reasons, whether anyone likes it or not, are rooted in values. Everyone is different when it comes to values. That’s how communities are built; around shared values. And for many of us, mixing porn (gay or otherwise) and toys in a general marketplace goes against our shared values and we’re speaking up about it. And reporting it. And for some of us, it is shocking and disturbing to have it in your face on what you think is a general marketplace.
So, have I learned a lot in the past 24 hours? Absolutely. LOL.
I'm also a seller of vintage Barbie since 1999. My customer base is quite varied as well but I am certain none of the items I sell are purchased by children. I do get the occasional mother/grandmother/aunt who buys a doll from me for a child in their lives, but otherwise I pretty sure I don't have children shopping in my store on even an irregular basis. Not that it would matter because I don't have any questionable items. I don't sell or buy porn to begin with.
That said, I stick with my assessment that your seller is not offering dolls that children would be all that interested in. In my experience, kids don't want Silkstones or collector Barbie dolls from 10+ years ago. I suppose there could be a few but not nearly as many nor anywhere near the capacity some posters are making it out to be. Unless something has changed recently...
And yes, there was a poster upthread who made it a point to mention it being gay porn being shown to children by a "filthy" ebay seller. My point is in the case of the seller in question, I highly doubt that is his intention. More importantly, any stripe of porn on a public website should be problem enough without having to specify outrage over what kind it is.
I'm gay and have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 35 years last month. For the record, I don't want to see skin magazines when I'm shopping for something completely unrelated either. The difference is I don't automatically think the worst of any seller unless it is blatant category manipulation like the Chinese sellers I mentioned in an earlier post. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt that there may have been a simple listing error. I for one appreciate when a buyer lets me know I have something wrong in one of my listings. We all make mistakes.
Regardless of which kind of porn we might prefer. If any.

So, what we’ve learned is that ebay is too big to operate within the law and therefore it is a growing free for all to do whatever you want except sell COVID products, that’s a no no! But porn and toys together? Have fun! I’m disgusted. Tick tock tick tock. Get it sold, and get out and I’m on it!
CS might truly have been freaked out when they saw, but there is no way it's ILLEGAL to have an eBay account selling both Barbie dolls and porn magazines. CS, especially the offshore ones, are very talented in the "omigosh I'm so sorry that is awful we will do something about it" while not having the capacity to actually do anything about it. They just have to get customers off the line as fast as possible.
In any case, children shouldn't be on eBay, yet eBay is actually doing something to prevent kids under 18 from seeing adults only items. I can go on the River and look at dildos all day long without even having to sign in. That's not mentioning all the free porn out there with the only barrier between it and children being a pop up asking "Are you over 18?"
It's the parents' job to address sexuality and porn with their kids, not eBay's. If some of the listings were miscategorized and ended up on the main site, that's an eBay violation that can easily be addressed by clicking on the Report button on every listing. Everything else is misdirected emotional reactions. Instead, we went from items being listed in the wrong spot to linking the seller's listings to child abuse and that's just insane.

Exactly, and with some homophobia thrown in for good measure. This thread got ugly fast.

We will have to just disagree with what you wrote. EBay has an obligation as an ethical company and it is not just a site for adults. Secondly it is not easily reportable as you say because you have to click on the vulgar picture to even report it.

FYI: to all the people who eagerly rushed to judgement. I just got two messages back from the seller in the OP. As I suspected along with a few others here, it was a mistake. He listed using sell similar and forgot to change the categories. And he is MORTIFIED. He was grateful for the heads up (which nobody else bothered to offer) and also wants to apologize to everyone who may have been offended. He was confused how the listings went through since he told me they are usually auto-flagged until the category corrections are made. Since I have zero experience with the adult only category, I have no reason not to believe him.
How about you?

As all the rational people here suspected..very good.

I don't think anyone rushed to judgement as I doubt anyone thought 100% positive the seller did it on purpose. Glad he told you he will change the categories. They have not been changed so far so we'll have to wait and see. Even though a mistake it was a very serious mistake and should not be taken lightly. Anyone selling porn should be extra vigilant when listing those types of things. On a side note I thought the OP did message the seller ?

Actually my other thought was it was a mess up with the catalog... It only takes one seller (I swear) putting stuff in the wrong category and when the bots sweep through for catalog page info BOOM that's where the item must go... and then the stuff is dang near permanently in the wrong spot and it takes an act of God and Congress to get the catalog peeps to fix it.
I have a 1995 comic that swears it's an 1900 comic... and they flat out won't swap the stupid thing, and no matter how I post it the bots sweep through grab the comic and shove it in the wrong category every time I list it.
I have several Star Wars Figures... that eBay swears are DVD's... or at least did for 3 years straight.
I have cup sets they swear are figures...
Some I gave up on and just gave back to bro told them I couldn't list them cause eBay wanted to call them BOOKS... and I was tired of peeps emailing me and telling me I was putting them in the wrong category.

The time difference between your posting and the one you are replying to is less than 10 minutes... and it can take up to 24 hours for reindexing...
just saying.
