Why when you have a item to sell that goes into auction, they don't give the seller a option to refuse the final bid when the bids are way to low???

I did start the selling price of the auction at what I wanted but eBay lowered the starting price of the auction!!! Example, I had a diamond ring up for auction. Starting price of the auction was suppose to be $1,000. I get a response back from eBay and the buyer that the ring sold for $200!! LOL 🙂 How can that be when the starting price of the auction was $1,000?? LOL 🙂

I did set a starting price for the auction but eBay lowered the starting price of the auction. Example, I had a diamond ring up for auction. I set the starting price at $1,000. I get a message from eBay and a buyer that the ring sold for $200!! LOL 🙂 How can that be when I set the starting price of the auction at $1,000?? LOL 🙂

I did set the starting price of the auction but then eBay lowered the starting price of the auction!! Example: I had a diamond ring I had up for auction. I set the starting auction price at $1,000. I get a response back from eBay and a buyer that the ring sold for $200. LOL 🙂 How can that be when the starting price of the auction was $1,000?? LOL 🙂

LOL 🙂 Obviously, eBay lowered the starting price of the auction!!! LOL 🙂

You don't need to post the same reply over and over, as we can all see the posts here.
In looking at the bid history, we can see that you started your auction at $44, not $1000. You may have had a BuyItNow price of $1000 on the auction, but (in most categories) the BIN price goes away as soon as bids are received. You may be thinking of a Reserve price, which costs extra and is not seen in your auction. (If it had been used, a note of "Reserve not met" would be visible, and eBay would not be telling you to ship.)
You would be better off using Fixed Price listings instead of auctions, and then you can simply set the price that you want to collect. Do not add the Make Offer option, but instead check the Immediate Payment Required option, so that no one can snatch your item off the market without actually paying you for it first.
You still run the risk of fake shipping-damage claims or empty-box claims, so if these items are as high-value as you think, you should probably sell them locally.

This has nothing to do with those at all!!! I had a diamond ring up for auction. I set the starting price of the auction at $1,000. You assume wrong!!!! I had a diamond ring for sale in a auction. I set the starting selling price at $1,000. I get a message back from eBay and the buyer that the ring sold for $200. LOL 🙂 How can that be when the starting price of the auction was $1,000?? LOL:) Obviously, eBay lowered the starting price of the auction!!! LOL 🙂 Don't assume anything!! That gets you into trouble!! LOL 🙂

@crshe-5710 wrote:Yes, that is good advice and I will take that advice. I will put everything buy it now!! I have found out that eBay is lowering the starting price of auctions. For example, I had a diamond ring, I had the starting price of the auction at $1,000. I get a response back from eBay and a buyer that the ring sold in the auction for $200. LOL 🙂 How can that be when the auction beginning selling price was suppose to be $1,000??
Shows you revised the payment terms and shipping.
Bid history does not show any problems.
You seem to not have started it at what you say you did,
shows at starting price of $44.00. This was at the time you listed it on 21 Oct 2021 at 1:14:52pm PDT.
You edited terms and shipping at 04:11:34 PM PDT same day.
Best to be careful in making share what you enter, as this is most likely an error on your part, not eBay's.
As said in prior advice: fixed price is the easier way to go. Price items for what you are willing to take for them.. Easier, faster sales usually, and takes out a lot of problems.

Maybe you thought you had a $1000 start price but you didn't! According to the bid history, the starting price was $44.

You are confused, you started the bidding at $44.

The repetative, same replies are getting a bit childish. Moving on...🙄

Because you dont seem to understand what has been explained to you over and over..the ring selling for $200, was your fault, not Ebays. Your buy it now price of a thousand dollars disappeared with the first bid.If you want it to go for a thousand dollars, you need to list it with fixed price.Or else list it with a reserve, which costs more, whether it sells or not.
11-01-2021 08:51 AM
Because that is what minimum the starting bid is for. The seller is supposed to set the lowest bid they will accept.

I just looked at the items for sale by the OP...Wow, talk about your price gauging...unbelievable!! This one won't be around for long. 😨

Personally, I would prefer to decide for myself when I want to move on. But thank you for the suggestion.
