So I have seen this discussed by many many people at this point but with no answers that I could find. So obviously summer slowdown is real and affects many different categories so in turn affects different sellers on ebay, but the most known category and the one I focus on mainly is clothing. This is my first year experiencing summer slowdown so I thought it would be more of a fast drop in sales until the dog days of summer and then they would start to rise as we got closer and closer to fall. But its been more of a rollercoaster at this point with some weeks doing decent and others not so good, and this is with a store focused on quick flipping with 10 to 15 new listings every day and I've been running constant sales so my prices are good and enticing for my customers along with 100% feedback. So July 26 is here and my last 4 days have been the worst I've had since I've switched my prices down for quick flipping. Yet the weeks before at the start of July were the best I've ever had in clothing. So the big question is when does summer slowdown in the clothing category really bounce back strong with no doubts of a huge drop in sales like I'm experiencing now. Is it August? September? October? Any help would be appreciated

It's a tough question to answer. July seems to be decent for me but I have really had to work it by running a sale, tweaking my listings and Pictures. August has always been pretty slow for me and I am thinking of taking the month of August off. Spetember for me like many other sellers, is back to school time and the cooler weather will be on the horizon. I would say that you may want to have a sale every so often and use the promoted listings feature. Best of Luck!!!

Have to agree with @luxgoods here. From my experience with selling here and being a small business irl, there are a lot of factors to sales.
What I notice is that from where I live, people tend to buy more when there is promotions/the weather is cooler. When it's hot, it can be difficult getting sales as people are more focused on the weather and not their needs/wants.

Selling pre-owned clothing is tough no matter what brand you are offering, except top end Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Prada, etc., like those. Others that are good are Ralph Lauren, Harley Davidson, that sort of thing. For the 30 shirts that you are doing, invest into 1 Harley biker's leather jacket instead which you could flip. Quick flipping should not be the focus, a longer term hold is a better bet. And keep eye on cyclical seasons, as fall approaches, Uggs seem to be go faster. Oh yeah, and if possible, get new over pre-owned. I could go into more detail, but those are ancient secrets ... lol.

Memorial Day through Labor Day is usually pretty slow for me.

I don't sell clothing and never in a million years want to compete with so many sellers. With that said, I would guess there is no such thing as a summer slow down. As a clothing seller I would think you need to list summer stuff in the summer, fall stuff in the fall, winter stuff in the winter, and spring stuff in the spring. Doing so should never cause a slowdown.

my last 4 days
remember the Olympics are on and that adds to slow sales, I think.

As far as I'm concerned, it isn't a "summer slowdown." It's the natural trend that it is reverting back to pre-COVID. Sales dropped off a climb before the pandemic. Now that it is slowly going away, eBay is going back to the good ol' days of random moments of decent sales. This is my 4th straight day with 1 sale. Getting more & more days of 0. I don't expect any different in the fall. Good luck to us all. 🙂

IF covid cases start to really increase like they did last year because of this menacing delta variant, we might be seeing a repeat of the new pandemic and zero slow down again. I would not wish that on anybody though, so be careful out there and wear those masks.

End of July/August stay steady with Back to School. Especially college kids in August.
September for us starts Halloween - by Early October, folks are buying Christmas ornaments, stockings, decorations, mantle covers, weighted fabric doorstoppers and boots. Lots of boots. Lined crocs and as mentioned above Uggs.....we sell uggs year around, but especially by October....although college kids order them in August also.
Really think it depends on what you sell. Get your long sleeve items up by labor day, etc.
Good luck!!!

Although that does help drastically being that shorts cargo shirts and tank tops have all been on fire all summer long along with other clothing, sourcing for just the season your in can be a drag though having to throw back so many good pieces when there's a good chance they will sell anyways if their desirable enough, and sourcing it all and saving the other seasons for when they come around would be even a better option if you have the room to store the rest, which i do not currently but Its definitely something I'll incorporate into my business when I make/find the room.

My guess unless the gov decides to pay people 30K to stay at home like last year you won't see that increase in sales again this year.

June has always been my worst month for sales. Always. But July is a close second. August begins to pick up and every month after that through January. Then steady through April. Last year was no different, save the steady part through April. JMHE
