When did eBay start leaving automated feedback on US?

I knew they were messing around on UK, but didn't realize it was on US.

And I'm not talking automated seller leaving feedback. I'm talking automated buyer feedback for sellers.

If I read that correctly it only applies to sellers who have less than 10 feedback. Good way to help new sellers get some cred. Once you get to 10 it apparently stops.

It's not limited to UK anymore

Ebay has updated the US policy pages.

It was stealthy added to US.

Clearly !!!

Ebay runs tests all the time and we don't know anything about them unless we run across them.  As testing goes, IMHO this is pretty harmless.

I'm guessing some buyers may react negatively to this change. The buying board always has people complaining about things like feedback removals and saying they don't trust ebay feedback anymore.

Maybe not a great move in that respect.

Why?  It doesn't block a buyer from being able to leave feedback.  If the buyer at a later date decides they want to leave feedback, they can and then what Ebay posted will just go away.  Why would that bother buyers?  I don't think I understand your point.

If this is the current state of FB for buyers (works out great for sellers as long as they make good on shipment handling and delivery deadline). Some things of the top of my head that will be better for Sellers:

- no retaliation FB for sellers

- less friction w/ buyers who primarily leave negative FB (see post)

Great ideas, but not what this specific policy addresses.

Re: When did eBay start leaving automated feedback on US?

As the number one seller of Seller Thank You Cards, we deal only with sellers.
So we noticed this on several accounts recently.

It says

This seller successfully completed an order.
eBay automated feedback

We're not a fan of auto feedback  like this. Many many times as a buyer if I do not leave a feedback it is because I am not completely happy with the transaction but don't want to leave a bad feedback for someone. So I let it be.

In this new scenario, I would have to leave the bad feedback just to prevent eBay from giving a good feedback when I feel they should just get none at all.

So if my buying account is forced to leave positives for sellers who do not deserve it, I would rather leave negatives to stop the positive and down vote some of those automatic positives that I know they did not earn.

This forced negative scenario is only if they start doing it for all transactions. Sellers with less than 10, we can understand.

Hey sellers,

Check out our store.

We are the #1 provider of Thank You Cards for eBay Sellers since August 2000.

Check out our awesome designs .

Re: When did eBay start leaving automated feedback on US?

It is ONLY for sellers with less than 10 feedback.  And if the buyer wants to leave feedback for the seller, they still can and the auto FB would disappear.

What is this UK crap? The thread starter just capitalized "us" as a group, as opposed to "them." It has nothing to do with the United Kingdom.

I think it's clear what the OP meant when they said......................

Re: When did eBay start leaving automated feedback on US?

If they are following the same rules as they are in the UK, this is ONLY for sellers with less than 10 feedback.  An effort in helping new sellers get some feedback recorded.

They aren't "messing around" with anything.  They are trying to help new sellers from a common complaint the lack of buyers that actually leave feedback and their issues in getting feedback.

As I've said before, if a buyer decides they want to leave feedback on a transaction that Ebay left that auto feedback, they can.  Nothing will block the buyer leaving feedback and it will take place of what Ebay issued.

I'm not at all sure why some are upset by this.  It is a positive thing for new sellers.
