What the heck is this?

Hi fellow eBayers!

This was part of an auction lot I picked up and I haven't a clue as to what it is.  It's made of terra cotta clay; measures 15 by 14 by 5 inches.  Give me your best guess, I'm stumped! TIA20240331_115425[1].jpg20240331_115440[1].jpg20240331_115506[1].jpg

Re: What the heck is this?

It looks like someone's school art project attempt at a sea creature, i'd just throw it out

Re: What the heck is this?

I’ve seen similar pieces, but they had a way to attach them to the wall, and held dried flowers.

Looks like bug hotel to me.  Shine a flashlight inside and check for customers.

It's making me crave ham.

And giving me serious heebie jeebies.

Re: What the heck is this?

Just for chuckles I would list it as

"Terra Cotta Thingamajig - I have no idea what it is"

Along with a nominal price

Chalk it up to a psychological study of the American Psyche. Remember the FIRST thing sold on eBay was a BROKEN laser pointer.

"Laissez-faire capitalism (AKA The Great Material Continuum) is the only social system based on the recognition of individual rights and, therefore, the only system that bans force from social relationships." ~ Ayn Rand

Second that... we had something similar inflicted upon us as a gift many years ago. Relative of an acquaintance made them as some sort of pottery enterprise, then tried to sell them (or give them away). Ours came with a wobbly home-made Plexiglass stand that was supposed to hold it upright, and you then stuck the requisite dried flowers in the opening on top. We discreetly donated the thing some years later while cleaning out the basement.

Re: What the heck is this?

Kinda reminds me of the man eating plant in Little Shop of Horrors movie from the 90s lol.

First thought when I saw it, that's an oversized hamburger bun!  lol  Maybe it's an old, leather seat cushion??
