Definitely one of my decks. The oldest listings are about a year old, though they've been regularly updated so they say a month or two at most. They take a long time because they're expensive and it's an extremely niche market where the decks sit until the right buyer comes looking for it. I have a few toys that have been up for almost as long, for the same reasons. I don't mind waiting as long as other things are selling in the meantime.

I sold an item recently that had been listed off and on since 2009 and continuously (GTC) since 2019.
It was still there because nobody bought it.

When was it started and why is it still there?
I end listings when I go on vacation, so I will answer about the oldest "items I am selling", not the oldest "active listing" I have.
A couple months ago I sold a sealed Betamax concert video that I have had listed on eBay since about 2004. It was listed for 20 years because listing items here is free (if you want them to be). I paid 10 cents for it and sold it for $10.
I have 25 items listed that I have been listing continually for a dozen years. They are still listed because I sell about 100 of them every year.
I have probably 500 other items that have been listed for years and years. They are listed because listings are free (if you want them to be), and because about 100 of them sell each year - but I just have no idea which ones.

Okay. I was mainly asking about old listings that haven't gotten new listing IDs. So according to yours, it's around 6 years old (since 2019). Why did you list it off an on previously (2009 - 2019) and stopped doing that in 2019?

Is it still selling a constant stream?

Thanks. I was mainly asking about oldest active listings, ones that sellers have chosen to not manually end and relist. Because you know, ebay tells us to do this from time to time with our listings.
I have one from 2012. It's pretty much an abandoned product line that I've been clearing out for a long time. I don't want to end and relist because I think it's not compliant with current ebay rules like item specifics or something. It still renews just fine but ebay won't let me revise anything on it until I revamp it to be compliant. I think I have 3 units left. So I'd have to revamp it if I were to end and relist it. So up it stays.

I have sold 11 this month of that item.
It's pretty consistent.

Aug 2019, though many are older but were relisted.
Why are they still listed? They haven't sold yet. 🙂 I offer mostly one-off items. I've already invested the work into listing them and have the room to store them. I'm working on revamping all of my shops and will probably pull and donate many of the older ones soon. They still sell though, so they're showing up in searches to some buyers.

My oldest active listing, a variation listing, started on July 25, 2023. It has sales every month, so it stays active. I am a low-volume seller, so generally speaking, I end listings without sales every 1 -2 months, tweak them, and put them back up using Sell Similar.

5/20/2011 The reason it is still listed is because I have sold 892
I had another from 2011 that I recently sold the last of a qty of 15
One from 2012 that I have 37 of and have sold 3
recently sold a single item that was listed 11/2012
Once I list something I rarely end it because you never know when that item will become in short supply.
I sold a whole bunch of really old listings during covid

Prior to 2019 there were only 50 free listings per month and I depended on the continuous flow of Free Listing Offers. I would get an offer for 50,000 free listings so all my old items would get listed for 30 days then they would end and I would wait for the next batch of freebies.
In 2019 GTC became the standard with 250 freebies, I started using multiple selling accounts to get 750 free listings which was plenty for my key multi-item listings. Across those id's the key multi-item listings (about 50 of them) account for about 90% of my sales.
I have about 10,000 items left over from the early days that I could relist but don't because they need new pics (to meet the 500px minimum), new Item Specifics (because the old ones are outdated) and another round of price research. Too much work for this old guy!

That's a great question, I need to check, very interesting, Why it's still there is hard to answer though, could be numerous reasons.

5yr 11m 11d continuous.
Still there as I replenish stock. Easy to ship. Good ROI.
Been selling the item longer than that, but probably had not learned about OOS before that😂
