What's the latest on if I don't change my First Class package listings to Ground Advantage?

What happens to the listings? Curious, since eBay seems to be converting my existing first class package sales to ground advantage now without a snag in prices.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques wrote: ... We know ebay will change GA to the new GA rates, but will ebay make that change for listings that still say 1st Class? ... my guess is, there's no big problem UNTIL USPS increases the GA rate for items under a pound (formerly , First Class). Then, there may well be a problem....

One place where the old and new rates are different is the retail rates for packages above 12 ounces.  Listings that are set up to charge retail pricing for 13 ounces show the current GA rate, not the old 13-ounce rate, so clearly eBay is already plugging in the current GA rates in listings which say FC package.

They may be changing them from FCP to GA on the labels, but you need to change it yourself in your LISTINGS.

Yes, I've seen that repeated in many postings, but what exactly "happens" if I don't. That is what I'm looking for.

@jamesdouglasgallery   i'm wondering the same thing since i did not change my first class shipping to ground in any of my listings, but when i go to print shipping labels, it shows buyer's choice- ground advantage

With 3,300+ listings I'm surprised you're not using business policies.

A definitive answer to your question hasn't been provided by eBay yet.

FYI, all those yearbook listings you have do not qualify for the advertised Media Mail service you're offering. They're considered to be directories, not books consisting wholly of reading material. I'd throw those into the bulk editor first and switch to Ground Adv.

Same here. If it comes down to them converting all of my first class to ground advantage, including a few "flats" as they are called, so be it. That's better than finding and changing 1000+ offending listings. Anything I send out by letter rate was changed to flat rate an number of years ago (when letter rate, which was then available, stopped working for domestic buyers, telling them that I didn't ship to their area!). So I needn't worry about those.

If the store listings are all flagged and won't renew, at least then they've done my "search" work for me. Then I can change if need be. This is why I am curious.

Re: What's the latest on if I don't change my First Class package listings to Ground Advantage?

ebay has been asked this a number of times, and so far, I've seen no definite response. My guess is , the real problem will arise when the USPS increases Ground Advantage rates, so they are no longer the same as First Class for those weights.

I'm converting 1st Class to GA , a few a week, until I have them all converted. That way, I won't have to worry about the consequences LOL

We don't know because even ebay doesn't know apparently, or if they do they're not passing it on to sellers.

Re: What's the latest on if I don't change my First Class package listings to Ground Advantage?

I only have a few left to do. mostly MV listings which I never changed because they took away the ability to use one of my 'attributes', but now I'll have to redo them which is a royal pain.

Any odd ones I've missed I figure when they Do change will not renew so I can do it then.

Sarcasm isn't necessary nor beneficial to your reputation.

@wastingtime101 is offering you accurate and helpful advice, advice that can save you from having p.o.'ed buyers who may receive postage due items for your underpayment of shipping charges or your account may be charged for priority mail for the misused media mail.

Although USPS's APV system is supposed to catch sellers who've cheated on postage and buyers/recipients aren't supposed to be charged for postage due, sometimes the system does charge the buyer and that's unfair.

In fact, there's a recent thread in which the buyer felt forced to pay an extra $62 for her purchases because the seller underpaid.

You really need to fix your listings rather than take the lazy person's route to wait for ebay to do it.

That doesn't make sense; First Class package rates don't exist any more.

Re: What's the latest on if I don't change my First Class package listings to Ground Advantage?

Like everybody else, we don't have an answer  BUT because we had to go into every listing to change assorted wording, we found mistakes - you don't want to know how many. Wrong title based on photos and description.  Wrong description based on photos and title. Photos not showing. BINs with immediate payment not checked. Big things - board games, five, six pound boots, etc, along with mugs and plates with a flat rate envelope as first option. Five pound items with five ounces as the weight.

Little things like that.

So if ebay had auto fixed it for all of us, we would have never noticed the above.

So thank you ebay for handling the change wrong.

No, but you do underline a point for me. I now know why people have posting ID's to keep busy-bodies from reviewing your listings to cite issues that have absolutely nothing to do with the thread's subject. And then being supported by others for doing exactly that. It really is kind of passive-aggressive, and talk about reputation. It's like feeding time in the shark tank.
