If I only get one, the answer is "eBay".  They are their own worst enemy.

I think their biggest problem is that they don't know what works.  Because of this, they keep making changes in desperation.  They don't understand who they are.

In my view Ebay's biggest problem is that it can't stand or accept what it is, a simple ad venue. Sort of a self inflicted identity crisis. It wants to be like Amazon but it can't.

If I might summarize at this point...
All indications point to "leaderless".

What is ebay's biggest problem?

Seller co-operation - lack thereof.

The need to be eBay and the best possible eBay.  Sellers should not be treated like scammers.

Listing fees should be free and once you prove your honestly and pay your bills-eBay should help you (encourage you) to sell as much as you can.

And, on the subject of updates.

Yesterday I was given a mesage to accept something for 77 listings.

I did what they asked.  Three times.  And it's still there.   Don't put in things that don't even work.

My open letter to Ebay RE: Ebay's biggest problem(s)

The people running Ebay don't have REAL, practical online SELLING experience. They are clueless as to how things actually work at the level of an average Ebay or other third party seller.  What might look good on paper can turn out to be a trainwreck in practical application.  Just because you can run a large business one way doesn't mean you can run a small business the same way, and Ebay is for the most part a massively large group of SMALL INDIVIDUAL sellers. What works well for the multi-million dollar single business will not work for groups of individuals selling $10k each a year. You either want small sellers, or you don't.  Don't try to change us into million dollar businesses, because we aren't and will never be. We can't all fit into the big box mega mold. If you don't want to deal with us, please just cut us loose. That would be the right thing to do.

Ebay makes too many changes. It's frustrating for sellers AND buyers. Buyers LEAVE because of all the mostly stupid changes made.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And speaking of fixing things, fix the actual broken stuff first before changing something just for the sake of change.

It would also be a great help if the left hand knew what the right hand was doing. Nobody knows anything around here.  Keep your help informed. Their lack of knowledge on important subjects just makes you and them look stupid.

Finally, it's okay to be different. You don't need to be like everyone else. ::cough::Amazon::cough::  The best thing about Ebay was always it's uniqueness - the ability to find those off the wall, hard to find, vintage, pre-owned, and even weird items that nobody else had. Now a lot of those great sellers are leaving because you want to be just like everyone else.  They take buyers with them. Buyers mean money. Don't you want money, Ebay? Or do you just want numbers?  Are a million Chinese pennies worth more because they bring in the numbers?? Tell the truth.

^^And this is said from someone who actually LIKES selling here. Think about that, Ebay.
