What does it take for eBay to ban / suspend a buyer for non-payment?

I had a buyer who was constantly messaging me and making offers. I finally accepted one and asked them to show me that they would actually pay. Of course, they did not just the like of their overwhelming non-payment feedback. I opened a UPI case, waited, and closed it so I could get my fees back. Supposedly, this gives them a "strike", but how can they continue to still operate on eBay with months of bidding and never paying? Here's the link to their feedback:

The strikes aren't used for suspending buyers.

Sellers can set up their Site Preferences to block bidders/buyers who have gotten 2 strikes in the past 12 months.

They have to rack up about 30 strikes before they are even considered punishment.  Best regards

When you file the UPI, you can't leave feedback.

So all of those false positive feedbacks for non-payment (and other remarks) mean that buyer hasn't been issued strikes.

But the dude should be thrown off.

Might just be one of eBay's secret shoppers that helps quarterly reports look good.  eBay can say they sold X amount of product this quarter that actually never sold.

A few months ago, eBay started allowing sellers to leave feedback for buyers who had gotten a nonpayment strike.  Still, it's a violation to post a positive rating with a negative comment.

First off, set your preferences to block buyers with two strikes in 12 months. This prevents those buyers from bidding or buying your stuff. It blocks them completely.

Now, if all of those sellers had opened and closed unpaid item disputes, and you had your blocks set, that person would not have been able to bid or buy, so SHAME ON THOSE SELLERS who didn't do what needed to be done.

Leaving feedback never blocked deadbeats. Only filing UIDs will. The tools are there to block. ALL sellers need to use them and stop whining about leaving negatives or fake positives for deadbeats. That won't stop them - deadbeats don't care what their feedback looks like. Only good buyers care, and good buyers PAY.  Blocks and strikes are the only thing that stops these deadbeats.

And yeah...that guy needs to be gone.

Those sellers very well may have done what they are supposed to do. Feedback can left for buyers after an UID has closed. My feedback profile is proof. I got 2 false positives after a seller filed and closed UIDs.

Once again sellers are shafting other sellers by not doing what they should be doing.

It's a fact of life that deadbeats are going to happen when you don't have an immediate pay situation. But no...sellers are too worried about leaving negative "warnings" that the vast majority of other sellers aren't even going to see until it's too late.

Frankly I don't blame the deadbeats nearly as much as I blame the other sellers who fail to do their job.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

When did this happen??  And why? Fake feedback is a violation, so why is it now allowed?? It doesn't make sense...but this IS Ebay, so...

It started earlier this year. They aren’t exactlyallowing fake feedback, they are just allowing sellers to leave feedback for a buyer after the UID closes. It still has to be within the feedback policy. Mine happened in early July. I was able to get it removed after a couple phone calls. The seller increased the shipping cost after the 2 auctions ended and she said it was an oversight and then she turned around and filed UIDs instead of fixing the invoice. Left me 2 false positives calling me a bad buyers, a time waster and a follow comment saying to avoid me or something like that. She left the same comments for 3 other buyers at the same time.

Re: What does it take for eBay to ban / suspend a buyer for non-payment?

We'll never (hopefully) see those that have been booted off ebay.......  Every once and a while a buyer complains on the Buyers board about being suspended from bidding.......that they can only buy immediate payment items.... because of nonpayment (they usually have alot of excuses about why it's unfair to them)........so we know there is some action take for some buyers......I doubt many would post about it tho........

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to put the non-payer on your block list.
