What do I need to do to be able to ship from my house instead of going to post office every time?

A scan sheet and pick-up set up online ahead of time.

A scale
A ruler
A printer
You can buy a cheap scale on eBay (+/- $20)
You can buy a ruler at a Dollar store
A laser printer is better than an inkjet, a dedicated thermal label printer is the best but you need some volume for it to be worthwhile.

If you are going to continue selling on eBay it's worthwhile to buy a scale and print your labels at home. Plus you get discounted postage printing labels from eBay with tracking even for First Class packages. Ebay takes 10% of the shipping charge anyway so you need the discounted shipping. I either take my packages to the post office or hand them directly to the postman when he comes by to deliver my mail. Having the tracking prevents people from claiming they didn't get your package.

As a ebayer I see you already have some good responces. So as a mail carrier (who needs to get off to work soon) I'll answer with this.
A safe place to leave your packages.
A good safe place to get my vehical turned around.
CLEARED AND SAFE place for me to walk. If I have to navigate snow or ice covered steps with your packages we are not going to be best buds.

I have a mailbox on the street...I leave a note on the mailbox door that I have a pick-up (don't use a scan sheet) on my porch....and raise the flag.
Put my outgoing in a basket...they magically disappear and get delivered.
Haven't lost a package in 10 years.
You must live in a small town.
I would not recommend this in a big city. Just read where a car stopped, a young child got out and stole packages, and ran back to the car, which sped away.

One thing is to register with USPS (post office) on line to be able to schedule the pickups by the carrier.....and read their info about it. Once you schedule a pickup before midnite, the PO generates a p/u form for your carrier for the next day.......You may have to talk to your carrier if it doesn't work well at first. They ARE required to pickup and scan either the individual packages or a scan sheet. If you have trouble, call the postmaster. You will only be able to get a scan sheet if you print all the labels at one time thru bulk shipping on ebay.

Where I live there are pourch pirates and those who actually follow mail trucks looking for packages to be delivered.
I have never used that little thingie on the mailbox to signal mail to be picked up or delivered as imo it is like a red flag signaling - come steal me.
