Well so much for the great "eBay Fee Deferral Program"

When this was announced I have to admit I was really touched and even bragged about the offer on Facebook and other social media sites.
I applied and was accepted
Woke up this morning to find that Ebay had taken the whole invoice amount, and of course ebay support is down.
Why I expected this to work...........I should have known better

eBay Fee Deferral Program

Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, the deadline to submit your request for this program has passed. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please continue to check our eBay seller news for more information and updates on future programs.

I guess that program ended. Wish the deadly virus would end. Also the government-enforced lockdown.

On a related note...our national news is airing the "stories" of people who were killed by Covid-19, complete with uplifting (aka: depressing) music, to make us feel better? It doesn't make me feel better. Help on my financial situation would make me feel better. Waxing poetic about pandemic victims as I'm locked in my house for a month so far with no end in sight does not make me feel better.

Hi @b.shanks, can you tell me exactly what was incorrect or misleading and when you received this information? I've reviewed all the communication on your account and it looks like everything was clearly outlined, but I'm happy to check again if I missed something.

The information I received was inaccurate. I guess you didn’t look closely enough.

OK eBay wizzes... I received the original offer email on Mar 25th. I applied and was approved on both of my accounts before April 1. My bill is generated on the 15th of each month and gets paid on the 31st. I have received my 4/15 invoice for one of my accounts showing the full amount due (which was in the notes this would happen, no foul) however it also states the full amount due will be drafted from my account at the end of the month like normal. So... what gives? Is it going to actually be drafted or will it not?

No reference to deferment was in the invoice.

Hi @grfmotorsportsii, your invoice will generate as normal and we will begin working to calculate the deferral amounts for all approved sellers. Updates will be provided by the 22nd of this month to let you know the total that will be moved to your May and June invoices. Rest assured, if you have been approved then all eligible fees will be deferred, and we will get the specific amounts to you/update your current amount due by the 22nd of April.

I did not accept.

Had they offered to pay a month, I might have.

But deferring fees, that isn't doing me any favors.

Really didn't care for it much at all, they should've just saved themselves the effort of extending that offer.

Wasted my time as usual with yet another pre-formatted corporate message, so much like spam.

Sorry, I don't mince my words.

Okay, I'm not getting this. So I was approved in march and paid my full amount on March 30th. No big deal.

I get my invoice for my next payment, due at the end of the month and it shows the full amount due of $147.98.

Now I notice that eBay credit me on April 21st for $132.87, then debit me for $132.87, then credit me again for $132.87 and then debit me the next day for $132.87. What's going on? Anyone getting the same sort of thing? Now it says my current balance is $170.96 and I have $288.72 not invoiced yet. I'm suppose to pay 147.98 and have about $45-50 not invoiced yet. Can anyone explain this to me and how much I'm suppose to pay? I've attached some photos below. I'm confused and thought my payments would be split up. And no I haven't received any credit as in money back to my paypal account or anything.

k_retro,

Yes, same thing  happening here. Just got a notification a few minutes ago of strange eBay charge on a credit card only used for eBay selling fees.  A bizarre amount that makes no sense at all with no reference to any fee invoice (deferred or not).   Can't find an invoice or any other documentation in the selling account details that would explain it. Seems the program though well intended is shaping up to be a real mess in its execution.

And we are surprised by this because?

So glad I never even bothered with it.

Shouldn't they just be applying a credit for the full amount due then applying ONE debit for half for this invoice? The other half should show up on the following month's invoice.

Then again, I've never said I could make head nor tail of ebay's accounting methods.

You'd have better luck shouting at the rain.

Depending on your billing cycle and when you are approved it is either very helpful or entirely useless like most ebay features.

Yes, that's exactly the way I would have expected the fee deferral to be structured - invoice would list the full amount of fees less a straight forward 50% credit, but that simple approach does not appear to be the way eBay is doing it.   It's going to be a real mess.

A slew of charges and reversals? That's really a confusing mess. There should be no charge at all for the month's invoice.

eBay said the charge would be split between the next 2 invoices, so let's say it was April that was deferred. May should see May's charge plus 1/2 of April's charge. June should see June's charge plus 1/2 of April's charge. April shouldn't see any charges to your account.

Walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm.

I've emailed them this morning about all the strange amounts with the credits and debits on my account but haven't heard back yet. I'm really regretting signing up for this deferred program. I have no idea how they will charge me at the end of the month, but I'm suspecting that it will be more than what I'm suppose to pay.
