WW2 Nazi and Military patches

I'm so confused concerning eBay's policy on not listing Nazi Germany related items.

I am under the understanding items containing the dreaded swastika are not allowed but I see coins, books, stamps etc all over ebay.

I have a couple of WW2 nazi patches that to me are historical, but I am afraid to list. I guess I don't get what the difference is between a stamp with a swastika and a patch with one

Just because it is listed by some: it does not mean you can:

Nazi is safer to just avoid.

I guess a Nazi patch is considered propaganda..a stamp is not..its memorabilia.

eBay's policies prohibit items relating to Nazi media propaganda, items made after 1933 that contains a swastika, Nazi reproduction items such as uniforms, and all Holocaust-related products. Memorabilia such as coins, stamps, or printed period literature such as magazines, books, or pamphlets are not prohibited.

In many countries it is illegal to posses any German WW2 items, let alone sell. I know people that have those types of things that were handed down to them. They're pretty much stuck with them.

 When I here Germany, I think of Germany, when I here Nazi, I only think of death. They are historical, one that I'm glad I'm not part of.

It's sort of like some people would think the statue David is porn.  Just have to play by their rules however.

Oh, my . . . comparing Michelangelo's David being considered "porn" to Nazi propaganda being unacceptable? No, it's really not like that AT ALL. That analogy was really poorly chosen.

It is a good practice to go by the written policy, and not by what other sellers are doing which is very risky.

Stamps and coins are a mundane part of society which in this case just reflects that government at that time. They don't overtly represent death camps, though it does suck to see hitler on a stamp, when we otherwise love historic objects like stamps. The whole nazi thing still hurts worldwide, so ebay has a blanket policy just to keep things safe> Offensive materials policy

"Porn" may not have been the right word. But in the Vatican many of Michelangelo's masterpieces had their penises either smashed off or covered with fig leaves and/or paint. Seems that the nude male body was considered "vulgar". Pope Pius IX in 1857 ordered any statue with an exposed "male member" to be destroyed.

Uh, yeah. Thanks. I was an Art History major. Maybe you misread my statement: I didn't say the controversy about nudes in art didn't (and doesn't) exist.

My point was not that there aren't issues surrounding nudes in art, and it wasn't an objection to the word or concept of "porn." My point was there is no correlation between the controversy of nudes in art and the controversy of symbols of the Nazi regime.

IMO, here's another reason not to list those items: with the rise of ideologies similar to those of the Nazi regime in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe, there are certain factions of the population that would love to get their hands on that kind of hate-filled propaganda to stitch onto their clothing and/or display with pride as they march through the streets of countries who were devastated by the ideals behind and actions of those symbols.

Donate them to the Holocaust Museum, a WWII Museum, or some other like institution.

They are against Ebay policy. Do not list them here. Many people like yourself see others doing it and think it is OK just like people speeding on the roads.
