Hi everyone.....
I’m just looking to see if anyone can give me any insight. I sold an item on eBay after four days the buyer got in touch saying he wanted a full refund and I offered him a partial refund which he accepted. Then he opened another case or it could be the same case but he wanted a full refund.
which I accepted and the buyer hasn’t been very nice saying he wants to go back to the partial refund. He’s been saying that he spoke to a eBay and he’s not sending the item back as he’s going back to the first partial refund and he has taken apart the item. Am I correct in thinking that the first case he opened is now none in void and I’ve done the right thing excepting full refund and the return of my item. But the item if he does return it has been opened up and not in The condition I sent it to him. Where do I stand in this

Does the case still show in Resolution Center? If so, he hasn't canceled it and you need to respond to it, if you haven't already. Frankly, I called ebay in a similar case and they handled a cancellation.

It’s two different case numbers The first case is not showing up but the second case which I’ve accepted a full refund and to the item to be returned to me is waiting for the buyer to respond
and I think he’s going to ignore it

The first case in Resolution Center which he excepted a partial refund has been closed and it’s the Second case he opened for a full refund that is the one what is still open and waiting for him to respond

You can't really do anything until/if the buyer returns the item to you. They have a certain time period to do that and if they don't the case will be close with no further action. If they do return the item, and is has been altered, you'll probably need to contact eBay CS in the UK and ask them to close the case for that reason and that you've already done a partial refund. Altering an item voids their MBG, Keep all correspondence.
Of course that won't stop them from going to PayPal or their other funding source and trying again.

Thank you, just to clarify something else when you say the case will be closed and no further action does the buyer keep the item and the money or will I be getting the money back.

You will not get back the partial refund you gave, but if he doesn't return the item you won't have to refund the rest. At this point you should stay silent until he does something.

HOW IN THE HECK COULD THIS BUYER DOUBLE DIP A RETURN/PARTIAL REFUND AND OPEN TWO CASES. WHEN THAT PARTIAL WAS ACCEPTED THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DONE DEAL.

You need to NOT LET eBAY Step in on this second case. You tell the buyer return for the rest of the refund, and let it stand at that. If you let Ebay do this they might award the item to them free.

thank you. When I accepted the return on the second case the refund was for the full amount on eBay and PayPal give the outstanding fee. Still not clear is it lol

As I said above, you've already accepted the return, so just wait for it to arrive. It will probably never come. Do not communicate with the buyer at all.

Instruct your buyer to CLOSE CASE that they opened for a refund. If buyer claimed item was "damaged or not as described" EBAY may step in and automatically give buyer full refund.

There is no reason to communicate with the buyer since you accepted the return. Just wait for it to arrive.
