I have NEVER seen such a thorny mess as trying to do the right thing and setting up a Local Pickup thru eBay to accomodate a buyer.
The listing was setup correctly but now ... am I going to get a defect for not shipping during my handling time?
This is ridiculous.
@Anonymous- Is there anywhere I can see EXACTLY how to setup a Local Pickup and the procedures involved and what to expect? Cause what I constantly see is NOT what I've been led to expect.

It has a PayPal option to pay becayse eBay REQUIRES it.
My listing says CASH upon pickup.
But of course ... the buyer paid by PayPal because eBay provides NO instructions to the contrary when the buyer purchases the item, even though they KNOW it's a Local Cash On Pickup item.
It's a convoluted mess, frustrating and fraught with pitfalls ... perhaps by design.
As it is now, I have a Local Pickup item, purchased and paid for via PayPal and showing I have to ship ... all on a listing that was CORRECTLY setup as Local Pickup only.
It's crazy stupid.

Yep ... I'm in that same boat.
1) Since I'm requiring Cash on Pickup, do I Cancel the Transaction on eBay or Refund on Paypal. In either case, is eBay going to ding me for "Out of Stock" if I refund the entire amount on PayPal or ding me for "offsite transaction" if I cancel the eBay Transaction?
2) Do I just "Mark as Shipped" when the buyer picks up his item? Or before that? What happens if it's after my stated handling time? Do I get dinged if I don't "Mark as Shipped" prior to my stated handling time? I can't "ship" it any faster than how long it takes for the buyer to appear at my doorstep.
Ebay's draconian policys are certainly in the way when dealing with a Local Pickup.

Have you contacted the buyer to make sure they know it’s local pickup only?
Oh yes ... we've arranged a time and a place for pickup ... cash only. That part's no problem. It's eBay's policies that are getting in the way.

Your buyer is the one that created the problem by paying with paypal. Nothing you can really do just accept the paypal and meet up with your buyer and afterwards mark the item shipped..

Depending on when he paid. He may still have time to cancel payment.
Cash is king with local pickup, yet PayPal is acceptable. Just get a copy of his id and a signature saying picked up. When all is said and done. Mark shipped. You shouldn’t receive a defect for late shipping as it is local pickup.
For anyone concerned, eBay takes their money the moment BIN is pressed. It doesn’t have to be paid.

I appreciate your comments but there's no way I'm gonna accept a PayPal payment for a Local Pickup. I've read too many horror stories on this forum of sellers who did that, and the buyer opened an Item Not Received thru PayPal. With no tracking number or any way to prove shipment ... this is a slamdunk LOSS for the seller. The buyer ends up with your item AND a refund.
Not gonna happen.

I’m accommodating a buyer’s request. And it’s not so much this sale, but the ones I’d like to put up for much more money but will never do so, due to the lack of clear, concise policies and procedures for Local Pickup.
I didn’t create this maze ... eBay did.
