--Final Update, October 28--
The category changes announced in our Fall Seller Update have been completed.
Now that all category changes are complete, while you might still see some adjustments to searches, it is okay to update or edit your listings without concerns of losing data or having it moved again.
We appreciate your feedback on this roll-out. We'll continue to adjust the process based on the input we’ve received here, and we'll take all of these suggestions into consideration for future updates.
As this project is now complete the post is being locked from further comments.
Resources and observations
We’ve heard from you that updating your Item Specifics in time for the February 2022 requirement date may be a challenge.
A useful tool that may help is located in the Seller Hub under Listing>Active. There is a drop-down box labeled ‘Download’ which will generate an Excel document for ‘Missing Required or Recommended Item Specifics’. You can read more about this tool here.
Should you come across any inaccuracies within the new Item Specifics we ask that you report those directly to sdsupport@ebay.com so our team can investigate. Outside of that, please share suggestions as to changes you'd like to see going forward here, selecting the Categories and Item Specifics option.
---Update as of October 19th---
We apologize for this delayed update. Thank you for your patience while our teams worked to finalize category changes.
All listings have been moved to their final destination categories. You may now proceed with checking your categories, revising items, and updating item specifics where needed.
Some item specifics have been renamed, and the value you originally provided has been copied over to the new item specific, so you don’t need to re-add these item specifics. We encourage you to update your listings with item specifics that are showing as “Required Soon.” These will become required on February 22, 2022.
All other item specifics are either Recommended or Optional. Learn more about item specifics.
Some categories were retired and replaced by product-based categories. You and your buyers can still find the items you’re looking for. Simply browse to the product category of your choice and use the filters to refine your search.

---Update as of October 14th---
The work continues on this move and is progressing according to plan. We are on track and anticipate all category changes for your listings to be complete by end of day tomorrow (10.15). Thank you for your patience while our teams implement these changes.
---Update as of October 13th---
We continue to work through this change and thank you for your patience as our teams work through it. We wanted to provide answers to some top concerns and questions:
Why are Gallery Plus fees being charged for items that were previously free?
We determined that a technical issue impacted a small number of listings, which resulted in incorrect charges (including Gallery Plus, subtitles, and insertion fees) for some sellers. The issue has been fixed and we will be crediting impacted sellers as quickly as possible. No calls to Customer Service are necessary as credits will be issued automatically.
The eBay Standard Envelope shipping option is grayed out and I can’t select it. When will the issue be resolved?
The eBay Standard Envelope shipping option issue resulted from the category changes update and has been resolved. eBay Standard Envelope is now available in applicable categories if your item meets the established criteria.
Should I edit my listings if they’re in the wrong category, have been moved to another category, or have wrong or missing item specifics?
No. Recent category changes require updates to many thousands of servers and data changes to nearly every aspect of our platform. This level of adjustment takes time, which is why we asked for your patience while the process runs. We expect most data updates to be completed within 48 hours, but can they take up to a week (i.e., through Oct. 19). After that, if you have an item specific in mind that you think would work well for your listing, please consider adding it as a custom item specific.
Why isn’t my item coming up in search?
The category change update is still in process. We anticipate search issues will resolve when we complete most data updates during the next 24-48 hours.
There are more item specifics now than ever before. Do I need to fill in all of them?
No. Item specifics that you have already filled in will be maintained as the category moves are completed during the next week. In addition, new soon-to-be-required item specifics are being added and will become required by Feb 22, 2022. As always, the more item specifics you fill out, the better visibility your listing has to buyers.
For Parts & Accessories, when will fitment/compatibility charts start working again?
There was an issue with parts compatibility not working properly as the category changes rolled out that has been resolved. You should now be able to see the options to add fitment compatibility when editing your listings.

This has been a terrible idea, So this is why my sales have been down the last couple of months ? Item species are terrible not enough detail in them. Also wrong species for the items I am listing.

Wonderful.
I was going to use my spare time to do some new listings during the next week. Not any more.
Good thing I'm only a small/casual/whatever seller and have less than 60 active listings. It should only take me 7-8 hours to make all the changes. I revised one listing tonight and was confronted with 20 vertical inches of items specifics, 80% of which had absolutely nothing to do with what I was selling.
I can't imagine how sellers with thousands of antique/vintage/collectible listings will handle this ghastly change. Will some such sellers just shut down/delete all their listings and move on? Could that be what eBay secretly wants? Only new/consumer products welcome on the site?
Sad.

I just checked a running listing to see if I should add specifics and..... what a mess!
The listing page is awful, disorganized, specifics that could belong to different types of postcards, like city and town, international, greetings, arts, patriotic, etc.... All these boxes on one page including so many that to do not apply to my postcard. This is scary. If this is what the listing page is going to look like, I guess I need a long vacation because this is pure madness.
Who in the heck created this "thing"?
Ridiculous! Absurd!
I am so upset right now, I think its better for me to shut down PC and try to forget this nightmare.

****** FIX THE CATEGORY FILTERS FOR COLLECTIBLES NOW! ******
I am a 20 year seller on ebay with over 35k feedback, this is the WORST change ebay has ever made. I sell vintage Barbie Dolls and ebay automatically changed all my 450 listings to a Dolls / Bears / Clothing & Accessories category. That is not the correct category for a vintage Barbies. People shop on ebay because they offer unique vintage collectible items, that is what made them who they are today.
This change will DESTROY the vintage collectible sellers business! CHANGE IT BACK NOW!
******* STOP SENDING AUTOMATIC PAYMENT REMINDERS NOW! *******
I have dozens of regular buyers that pay every couple of weeks so they can get a combined shipping discount. (Don't get me started on the new jacked up USPS prices) Now they are getting emails saying they must pay in 4 days or their order will be cancelled. My listings are opted out of automatic payment reminders and they are still sending the emails. I contacted customer service and they said it's a new thing and they don't know how to stop these emails. This is counter productive ebay, you will have less buyers if you threaten them to pay right away. They will buy more if they have more time to pay!

I've been an eBay seller since 1996 with over 4000 listings in the collectibles categories. This is the biggest mistake eBay could make, especially going into Q4! Who's idea was this? Lump collectible postcards into two categories, topographical and non topographical. My customers don't even know what topographical means! And also now tonight Standard Shipping for stamps, postcards and trading cards is not working for postcards? Says not eligible for this category? WTH!

I agree. If they don't want us postcard sellers and our hundreds of thousands of listings they could have told us. This is the beginning of the end of selling collectibles on eBay. They only want to be like Amazon
10-12-2021 06:49 PM
Yes only 2 options. then a bunch of specifics on what seems to be the new listing page. I just checked one of my postcards listings to see if I needed to add any specifics.. this is when I saw the new page. Horrible. Long. Disorganized. Irrelevant. Stupid.... I am out of polite words.

Thing is, I WOULD trust this "48 hours then things will be back to normal" assurance .....if it weren't for seeing the exact same thing 2 years ago, the last time you made big unnecessary changes IN THE FOURTH QUARTER, OF ALL TIMES. And .....the rollout did NOT go as planned. What was supposed to be a minor change to our listings turned out to make our listings INVISIBLE FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR, 'The Glitch That Stole Christmas' for those of us selling clothes. In fact it was the thing that finally made me sick of clothes, so I got more into .....wait for it .......... collectibles and jewelry. And it looks like the changes this time will be WAY more extensive, therefore way more open to glitchy disaster. ON TOP OF the Promotions Advanced hot mess.
So sorry if those of us who remember Oct-Dec 2019 all too well, and dont' trust this to go any better.

THIS IS HORRIBLE . Changes to our listings you mean are sales will slow down. I have over 4000 listings and again after the forced managed payments after being week from the pandemic. It seems like eBay has a death wish out for us. We don't have the staff after covid to change 4000 listings. i THAUGHT MANAGED PAYMENTS WAS IMPLIMENTED THE WORST WAY EBAY COULD DO. With this I think you might have topped yourself for disruptive and destructive policy's.

I had the gallery charges also - contacted eBay support through live chat and got the charges reversed, but that was only after arguing with the agent for a while that collectibles are not charged that gallery fee. He kept denying that - but in the end, gave me my refund. In meantime, I went into all 4,000+ listings and unchecked that box. Come on, eBay - without us sellers, you don't exist

On item specifics for postcards - how many times under "item specifics" do I have to show the state or city? So far with the new item specifics, I am counting twice - at least. What a waste of time. . .
