Unclaimed and returned to the sender and then return case opened

Buyer didn´t claim his package at USPS. He ignored my messages and usps started a return process  beginnings of may but i still don´t get the package and i see no progress at USPS

The buyer started a return a couple of weeks ago:

The buyer started a return

The buyer has until Jul 3 to ship the item back. If you choose to refund the buyer now, then the return will close and you shouldn't expect to receive the item.

"Changed my mind"
Comments
"Did not receive item, would prefer to return and let seller re-list item"

If i don´t get the item by July 3 can i ask Ebay to close the case?

"Buyer didn't claim his package"...so buyer shouldn't win

"Buyer started a return"...but didn't claim package...

"changed mind"...a remorse return.

Mexico might have different rules of returns...compared to USA.

Are "funds" on hold from this sale?...it not...case should eventually close by its own I would think.

It may take a long time to get a package returned, especially if it is international.  But since the buyer is never going to be able to return the package, eBay should eventually close the return. I'm not sure if they will do so at your request after July 3 or if it will take longer for them to do so.

If you do get the package back, you may want to refund the buyer the cost of the package less the cost of shipping and your fees.

The return case should close for inactivity after 21 days since the buyer has nothing to return.

Just a note: Oftentimes the return service for the USPS is like the slowest boat to China. I'd also just sit tight.

You have two things going on at once here - you have the failure of delivery & return by carrier of original delivery. That would be a violation of the money back guarantee by the buyer & a loss of coverage. Under that scenario - you should be fine.

The second is the buyer wanting to return - you need to respond to that process. Ignorance will become ruling automatically in favor of buyer by ebay. Some buyers will use the original tracking as the return tracking - and seeing that it indicates a parcel heading back to you, it could be claimed by ebay as valid. A question on the return - did ebay place it on hold pending the original delivery or are they expecting you to respond actively by a date? I assume the changed mind was the reason for the return?

In terms of international returns, because a return label is not available, ebay typically requires funds be provided for the return to the buyer from the seller. Be on the lookout for such a request. You would have to respond via ebay message to that. For now, more important to better understand what the return step is at.

I accepted the return. The buyer needs to ship before July 3. He didn't post the original tracking number. The tracking number has already desapeared because its more than 90 days now. My main concern is that i dont want the  buyer to put a negative review after Ebay closes the case

Update:

I received the returned item from USPS.  I sent a partial offer refund to the buyer (i just deducted the shipping) The buyer rejected it and now he has until July 24 to ship the item back.

What should i do wait until 24? or fully refund him ?

Did this item have free shipping initially, if so, you can't deduct the postage cost from a refund?  Otherwise, with a remorse return you should have had the option to refund the item price and not the shipping.  I would not have sent a partial refund offer, I would have tried just refunding the item price to close the return out without giving them the power to refuse.

EBay does not require any refund when a shipment is Undeliverable.

You don't owe him a penny.

Some transactions are not worth it.

Put the original tracking number into the Claim and point out that the package was Refused.

The Claim ends right there, in your favour.

Put the nitwit buyer on your Blocked Bidder List, with no communication.

He also refused a (partial ) refund?

Nitwit.
