USPS Delivered to St. Louis. Supposed to be PA. Label was Correct

I sent an EBAY generated label to the correct address.  The buyer is in PA.  The USPS delivered it to somewhere in St. Louis.  What to do?  Is there anyone to appeal to? Or just refund buyer?

Thanks.

This is a new one on me. Does the label have the PA address on it?

Does the tracking say "delivered" yet or is it still in a local PO or facility? If it's the latter, give it time. Worst case scenario I'll bet is the final carrier will see the package and realize there's no door step that matches the postage label to drop it off from then it will be re-routed back to PA as the label shows.

This happens every now and then that the package takes a detour and goes sightseeing. Sometimes it could be it was stuck onto another package bound for STL or left in a big mail bag by accident and headed out there.

It is possible you got 2 orders mixed up with addresses. Di you have any orders going near Missouri?

You need to check out going mail around that time. USPS usually doesn't make a mistake like that.

Are you positive it was actually delivered or are you assuming that. I had a package go all the way to Puerto Rico but it changed route the next day and ended up in Illinois.

@oneharborcards

I am guessing this was an ebay standard envelope with a lower value trading card right?

If so that scan doesn't mean the buyer won't get the card as ESE delivery scans are basically meaningless.

Did the buyer message you, open a case or what?

Don't do anything unless the buyer opens an INR case. Respond appropriately if they do.

I am not sure if this would be covered by ese free insurance but you could try that if you do have to refund the buyer.

And here I was thinking my pkg addressed to Missouri, going to Kansas hub then some random town in Missouri (instead of the Missouri hub), and then back to Kansas hub instead of just going the shorter distance to the Missouri hub was crazy. Ya got me beat!

Same day I sent another pkg that went over 1000 miles to Florida. Made it in 2 days. The Missouri situation took 5. Ironically the Missouri one left me positive feedback for "fast shipping" hahaha and nada from the 2-day Florida pkg. (And yes they were both shipped within 24-48 business hours of payment.)

@oneharborcards  did u contact USPS? they are the only ones who can help this situation.

eBay can't undo or redo or anydo anything that USPS or any other shipping company does.

If this was an ESE shipment I had the same thing happen at least a couple times last week (I haven't checked everything) One shipment to Louisville KY showed "out for delivery" in Phoenix AZ then was evidently redirected and delivered to the right address a couple days later. Another to Littleton Co showed "out for delivery" at Fort Worth TX & I haven't heard anything from the buyer, maybe it was delivered but the "tracking" shows nothing more. These were shipped May 30, maybe a problem with the ebay shipping label?

It happened to me one time. I purchased some candles from a seller in Oregon, just one state away. The package reached my hometown processing center, and then there were no more tracking notices. Finally, I received a tracking notice that the package arrived in Nebraska (!) and then routed back to me. Luckily, the candles were well wrapped and arrived undamaged.

I have also seen that a package tracking will show "Out for Delivery," but doesn't show it being delivered. It can happen that the mail carrier doesn't scan the package when placing it at the address. If I notice it and can catch the mail carrier on his next day's round, I will give him the package with the barcode so he can scan it. Sometimes it is not possible to do so.

hard to believe, but if the USPS tracking says it was delivered, then you need to call USPS 800 number for customer service (it's on their website) - ebay won't do anything.

It looks like most of the OP's listings use "eBay Standard Envelope for Trading Cards, Stamps, Postcards & Coins up to $20."

USPS will be absolutely no help in that situation. They won't spend any time looking for lettermail.

perhaps, I didn't look at OP's stuff... but, if they sent letter mail and it was tracking, then it was a letter mail through ebay tracking, which has been horrid from the start, first I heard them delivering to a completely different address in different state then addressed to though.
