I am confused how Ebay has been killing auctions and taking listing fees all in the name of stopping "offensive" Hurricane Milton memorabilia while they are allowing the sale of t shirts, key chains, and other items.
Many survivors of the storm have been trying to sell these historical roof pieces after losing everything. Can someone please explain this?

Wow....didn't know EBAY had a disaster policy. When EBAY steps in to "removes a listing" they do not return selling fees (as a punishment). Try calling EBAY customer service and explain that you were a victim of this disaster and ask if they will return the selling fee as a "courtesy to you".

Hello ebay
Isn't war a human tragedy ?
Shouldn't items that portray, or glorify or attempt to profit , or are insensitive to victims of war not be allowed ?

When did the weather become " offensive " ?

The City of St. Petersburg is the landlord of Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are responsible for operating the stadium.

Yeah, well when it was removed a second time either you called eBay from a spoofed number you found on the internet or if you really reached eBay it is typical they tell you anything to get you off the phone. Including the wrong information. That agent will not be found or will help you if you get restricted.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I only called after the first time it was removed. Where did you assume I called from a spoofed number?
"typical they tell you anything to get you off the phone" Good to know!
Also, I was never restricted. These are just honest questions. I have been using Ebay since 1999 and I just want to understand their actions and why they chose to take my listing fee.

Sorry to hear that...my heart goes out to you and all of those affects by that hurricane.

Fake eBay numbers are on the internet, put there by scammers hoping to steal your information. They answer questions so you aren't suspicious. That's how you get bogus information. And it is a known fact that actual reps dole out wrong Information to the point that could harm your account.
Trust us, if a listing was removed for violating a policy you should not relist the item.

I'm assuming you work for Ebay, fab?
All contact was made through chat on the website..where someone calls you back.
Seemed legit. And a rep said i could relist (without mentioning Milton). Just following instruction from a trusted source. Correct me if i did something wrong. I've been doing this 25 years so I'm not trying to break rules.

This site is for eBay buyers and sellers, rarely will you find an eBay employee on here. Khoros manages & monitors it on behave of eBay. this site. Your best bet is to go to the Help & Contact link at the bottom RH corner of this page to seek an answer to your unique dilemma. Maybe some one can assist you with other links (like thru facebook, etc) to contact an eBay CS person.
Just a question - I see in your profile that you did sell a small piece of debris from that stadium for 40 bucks-

Thanks for your input, Johnrj. Yes, I did sell one with a buy it now. That's what makes this so confusing. I was told it was okay to list as long as "Hurricane Milton" was left off the title and description. So, 1 piece was sold but then the next listing was removed (no mention of Milton on second either). It's like there are different rules at play. Multiple Rays fan are commenting on how to obtain a piece of this historical event from our beloved stadium. I don't understand how this is so offensive to victims (which I am one of). It's not like I was trying to ask $1,000's for it like some people. I was just trying to raise some money for those affected in my community.

I don't think you've done anything wrong, but I'm not ebay... what @fab_finds4u is alluding to is this; however benign the listing, if ebay finds it offensive, it's **bleep** near impossible to get them to see otherwise.
And relisting could well put your account in serious jeopardy, we hear about it regularly on these boards, no matter what a CS rep told you.
Adding a little back story for those unfamiliar with Tropicana field; I've been around long enough to see that St. Pete city government seems to pass down stupidity on a generational basis, they never can get it right.
Initial proposals for the stadium included a partially retractable dome roof, certainly a more costly alternative, but in hindsight, probably would have fared much better. In the end they decided on the genius of having a canvas 'roof' for a structure smack in the middle of hurricane country.
And continuing that same genius mentality, as Milton approached, they designated Tropicana field as the staging area for all the out of state power crews that came to help... Anyone who watched the nightly news knows the rest of the story.
I get the point of those who posted about the roof fragments being city property, it's just that seeing year after year, decade after decade of city council blunders, it's tough to be sympathetic in that regard, especially when we residents are footing the bill.

I see your point and appreciate the feedback, tin soldier. There is a growing interest in this strange souvenir so I will be curious what transpires in the future with all the pieces out there. MLB doesn't seem to be concerned about it but eBay does. Last I checked, eBay is located in California and has set the policy to prevent the victims of Milton from making any gains (even charitable ones). I wonder why they are letting others profit from selling t shirts and key chains?
