This has to be illegal....................................

A buyer recently opened a SNAD return for item "Wrong Item Sent."

The FIRST SENTENCE from the buyer in the message was "TECHNICALLY THIS WAS THE RIGHT ITEM SENT BUT DID NOT FIT."

Phoned eBay to report this and THEY SAY THEY CANNOT REMOVE THE DEFECT FROM MY SERVICE METRICS!

Even though the buyer CLEARLY ADMITTED IT!

How is this right? How is this LEGAL!?

Now I am at a 3.5% Return rate which is deemed as "VERY HIGH"

Now they are going to collect another 4% from me! Unbelievable!

I'd say about 85-90% of my "Returns" are from buyer error and the buyer selecting whichever reason they please!

eBay has MONOPOLIZED off buyers selecting whatever reason they please to open a return!

Even called in and WHEN A RETURN IS CLOSED IN YOUR FAVOR IT DOES NOT LEAVE THE SERVICE METRIC PERCENTAGE!

This is outright THEFT!

How the heck can he use a brick and mortar store as an example? It’s comparing apples to oranges.
They need more staff investigating returns. If they had the man power to look in depth on some of the questionable reasons for returns we all would be better off. Pie in the sky.

IMHO whatever the return rate is at a B&M, the online return rate is practically guaranteed to be higher than that. In a B&M the customer can generally put their hands on an item before they buy it and in the online world they can't. I'm sure we can all do the math, there.

That is a good idea, I could do that. Now just getting potential buyers to actually READ the description / blurb is another story...lol
Thanks though for the idea. I think I will try it, anything to help cut back on the nonsense returns, etc.

Sorry to hear, I would love to know who these sellers in the "low" are.

Its beyond aggravating when you know exactly what it is you are selling and the blame is placed upon you.

Honestly, we work with many companies, I have not found ANY others in our category that are below "High".

We went down to "Average" for only one month since the seller metrics were implemented. We've never hit "very high".

I was told that "Only the bottom 5% of metrics receive a penalty". I am 100% sure this is not the case.

At the very best case scenario from the data I've seen, they aren't properly separating categories, and "Motors" is being compared to EVERY SINGLE OTHER MOTORS SELLER, rather than product type.

Think about Ignition Coils. Manufacturers brag about 2% defect rate. 2% is a strong, competitive rate. Many vehicles require 8 or more coils. With 8 coils, each at a 2% defect rate... or even a 1% defect rate... how the heck is the "Peer Average" 0.72%?

It's impossible.

I have recently had an uptake in returns that are SNAD that are not exactly valid.  But, even with that uptake, I still have a SNAD rate of .79%

Or wear it a few times then send it back for a refund.

Happened to me a couple times.

Dear God, please help me to be

The entire change to how Ebay handles false SNAD claims was designed as another money grab by Ebay as they cannot justify an across the board increase in FVF when they have a platform so full of glitches and not enough traffic to support the listings on their site.  Although this is nothing more than out and out theft by Ebay, since they refuse to share who your peers are or any information for a seller to do an actual comparison against their so called peers, this was the only way they could come close to justifying a fee increase which they need desperately to try and show growth from a site that is actually shrinking.

Upper management can no longer figure out how to really grow the site so they come up with more and more fees that they can blame on the seller, or supposedly enhance the Sellers visibility on the site while not necessarily requiring that a sale be completed.  These types of changes will continue being implemented by Upper Management at Ebay until they either destroy their own site or they are  replaced by a Team of Executives who know what they are doing.

Why yes, yes they have.

I am glad you and others are noticing, I was starting to worry, thought I was the only one.

Hard to fight them from a loners platform.

No, no it does not.

Ebay seems to thrive on these caveats, there exist more, quite a few of them even.

Why yes, yes it is so now you have to steal your money back by raising your prices, doing so will also artificially reduce your sales which will reduce your future returns which in turn will help your figures in the long run... Soon one day you will be right back on track making more money with less work and now that you know stealing is legal here you do not even have to feel guilty.

The absolute worst part is putting all the cost on the buyer, that part is unpleasant as it will one day result in another recession but tell me, do you folks have any better ideas?

The 1.09% rate is from the service metrics dashboard.
