15% standard fee.
5-15% Ad Promotion (ad general fee)
1.65% International Buyer Fee (WHY ARE WE PENALIZED FOR THIS???)
REALLY? I could go into details about how this has affected my revenue. If this global economic disaster wasn't enough? Now, we get gouged at every turn. SMH.

some people need to keep their day job or get a day job so they don't HAVE to depend on what eBay decides to do with their company

NO. I am not complaining about 1.65% LOL. I am complaining that they are abusing this Ad Promotion nonsense. I explained it fully in a post above. I had an item that sat for 2 months with 1 VIEW! Then I bought a promotion and got 20 views in 2 days and sold it within a week. Then they took 1/3rd of my earnings. How very few of you have an issue with this kind of thing is mind boggling. My gross amount on sales for the month was $605.50. I received $385.15. That is criminal. Of course, I made the choices that put me there, but they don't leave you much choice! Then, on top of it, the marketplace is overloaded with competition that are clueless and price $100 items at 19.99 and are thrilled because they're like 18 years old and anything is a lot to them. The whole market is getting destroyed by the economy and the fact that no one wants to spend anything right now because all of the necessary goods are astronomical and it's impacting everything on down the line, so everyone gets desperate and impatient and drops their prices drastically. So the buyers know that they have the upper hand and just sit and wait for the price to drop. Anyone who isn't committed long term to the buying and selling industry, needs to take a hike and stop killing us! Devaluing antiques and collectibles seems to be a hobby for people these days. I walk into any Goodwill and there's 20 people with their phones out, looking up prices. It's making me nauseous. Too many people run their mouth and before you know it, the market is flooded with too much stuff and the price drops and we lose. SMH...

I don’t what you sold. First of all promoted listings are optional. They are only useful in my opinion if you are trying to sell something that you have a lot of competition or you are trying find specific customer. Otherwise you are wasting your money in my opinion.
If you are competing against a lot of sellers for your exact item it makes sense to promote so that your item is near the top of the page. For items where there is not a lot of competition I would make sure you fill in as many item specifics as you can instead of promoting. Think like a buyer searching for your item as a guide to filling the item specifics. Item specifics are used by eBay’s and Google’s search engine. So the more accurate and complete the item specifics are the better.

There are also many sellers that have fallen into the trap that they need to pay promoted listing fees. eBay has done a great job bamboozling sellers into thinking promoted listings are necessary.

You might have noticed that they gave that information very early in this thread.
Not sure why you think they are being honest with you and others aren't. Many of the posters told you that Promoted listings work for some sellers and not for others. It is a CHOICE for each seller to make for themselves. Most sellers do NOT use the program. IDK why that isn't qualifying of being honest with you.

Sellers have full control over the percentage they are willing to pay for a sale in the Promoted listings program. If they took 1/3rd of your sale price in fees, then you simply selected a very high Promoted listing rate. That is NOT Ebay's fault. You control that.
"How very few of you have an issue with this kind of thing is mind boggling." The answer is simple and has been shared a few times on the thread. If you don't like Promoted Listings, don't use it. It is that simple. I don't think there was a single post on this thread that a poster said they use Promoted Listings and have selected a high percentage if they get a sale and the love paying those fees. But hey, you need to understand YOU are in control of those fees on your account. Don't like the fees, then STOP using the program or select a lower fee.

That's it in a nutshell. It's called a marketing campaign, directed solely at sellers. Like any sales pitch, eBay has mastered the use of "up to" and "potential" to "bamboozle" sellers. Time for sellers to realize they are fair game for extra revenue.
