Re: Taxes

Yes, they are required to send 1099-K to qualifying sellers.

Ebay sends out 1099-K every year. You will receive it at the end of January.

Make sure to take all of the deductions you have earned.

Are you asking whether eBay is issuing them?

Yes they are, if the law says you need one.

Or are you asking whether eBay is mailing a physical copy when they issue one?

I think they depends upon whether you opted for an electronic one.

Re: Taxes

Ebay will comply with all federal and state requirements. I would double check what your state requirements are.

Re: Taxes

Also keep in mind that eBay sends and reports sales tax to your states on behalf of your SS#.   So never think just because you don't receive a federal 1099,  your income made is still known at the state level....sellers think that through....

Re: Taxes

"All sellers are qualified!"

As a response to the question from the OP, "Anyone know if eBay is sending out 1099s for the 2025 tax year",

your statement is not true.

"eBay's issuance of Form 1099-K"  is a completely separate thing from  "eBay sellers reporting their own income"

eBay is required to issue Form 1099-K for calendar year 2025 to sellers who meet both of these minimum criteria
(federal rules*):

1.   Number of Dollars in Gross Profits:  Twenty Thousand ($20,000.00) and

2.  Number of Transactions:  Two Hundred (200).

Obviously, many, many eBay sellers come nowhere close to meeting those two requirements.

*Several individual states have lower Gross Profit requirements, some as low as $600.00.  eBay will issue Form 1099-K to sellers who meet those lower requirements.

Ebay is required by law to send appropriate tax forms out to sellers every year now.  You will receive the one for 2025 by late January 2026.

Not every seller qualifies to be issued a 1099K, but you are correct, we are required to report all income to the IRS whether or not you get any certain form from Ebay or other marketplace.

@ryry-jj

To be clear.  That would ONLY be for sales that were shipped to the state the seller is in.  Ebay does NOT notify a seller's state for every sale made that required collecting and remitting sales tax in other states.

Re: Taxes

Vague?  Why?  Is Ebay not required to send out the appropriate tax forms to sellers every year?  Or are you considering it "vague" because I didn't list the requirements for a 1099K to be issued for any given seller?  If so,  guess that has importance, but I didn't want to post all that info to include the requirements by each state that has their own rules on this form.
