Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

Today is August 21 and I picked up inventory from online auction winnings yesterday ... the drive was about 1 HR & 40 Minutes one way ... when I got there I was in line with a half a dozen other buyers ... care to guess what the topic of conversation was????  Yep, abnormally low eBay sales and the blame was being placed on the eBay algorithms ... I didn't even bring it up, they were already talking about it ... unbelievable ...

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

My sales have dropped. I am selling electronics that go along with solar panel installations. "Enphase CT-200-SPLIT - Split Core Current Transformer ". I sell a single, and as a package of 2. My singles (the lower selling because you need 2 per install) are doing alright. The pair used to sell 2-3 per week. I have sold 3 in the last 8 weeks. I even opened a new ebay acct and listed the pair. nothing. total of 3 views. The titles on the single and the doubles are word for word the 1st 5-6 words. A search of those common words NEVER shows the pair, only the single. Have talked w ebey reps and they assure me their is no problem. And when they search my pair shows. There is a problem. I get almost no views cause no one is finding them on a search!!!

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

yep-they say there is not problem...... except that after the changes they made- everyone's sales have plummeted.  Its easy to connect the dots- we may not be brain surgeons but we're not idiots either.

Ebay makes several major site changes within weeks of each other and now search is worse, views are down and sales are terrible......

@mr_lincoln  I do have to say my sales have come up - was in negative like most up to 24%+ as of today - i did a lot of things, like most, the only thing that seemed to make difference though was PL elections. Will that be the case for all? IDK honestly, even there depends on many factors, category, competition, price, shipping blah blah blah...but worked for me to at least get things out of the red. Granted they still are not where they were prior to all this but it's an improvement none the less - let's see where it goes now.

@nuclearomen   Last weekend was great, 25 packages shipped Monday AM ... before all the changes I was shipping 15-25 each Monday ... not now.  I call Sunday's "Single Digit Sunday" ... right now I have 5 for tomorrow ...  It's been like that most of the year with I think 2 as the lowest ... I recall an 18 package Monday last month.  Its pretty sad to be honest.

eBay is "promoting" their PLS Promoted listing Campaigns ... they sent out "invitation only" messages to certain Sellers (not me, but friends shared the invite with me).  Yep, $ 500 of AD FEE CREDIT for a PLS Campaigns run from Aug 10 to Sept 8 ... $ 500 Ad Fee credit is a lot of credit.  My PLS Campaign have stunk this year, way under performed in both the number of sales and the dollar amount sold ...

So, here I sit with virtually ZERO GTC sales and eBay is going to have all these short run PLS Campaign ... bet THOSE listings get top billing right?!? I'll be interested to see how my friends do on their PLS ...

@mr_lincoln Yeah, like I said, sales aren't what they were, but they have been "better" the past 2 weeks here after doing PLS refinement. And my sales this weekend are 4 (3 leaving Monday - 1 sent out Sat. morn.) - though it beats the month of zero weekend sales. I can't say either way - it's down but some stuff is going.

Yes, I seen this offer - not me either - ebay has always excluded me from their "special" offers except for the very few times they have sent me one - which were useless cause I don't sell in the categories they were for. The question is, for those who accept this offer, will that mean they suddenly get sales on their PLS listings. Seems like offers like this are to entice seller to accept an offer but as to if they actually boost sales i have no idea.

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

I have not had a single sale since May. I understand that Velvet accepted a new position within eBay so how can I report this?

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

@nuclearomen @mr_lincoln

       it is the assured slow destruction of ebay by short sighted dingdongs......   so they are so bent on getting more people roped into PL that they offer $500 free PL fees hoping to entice or "hook" more sellers.  Obviously these listings must be pushed to the top regardless of relevancy so they get the sale ( making the search results worse and worse).  So they are destroying shopping experience for buyers and the sales for experienced full time veteran sellers by burying their listings to instead show PL plastered all over the page instead of what people actually searched for ?!??

   Ebay is literally doing everything opposite of what any experienced business would do.

@siamjane8   This is the point I was trying to make ... artificial sales at the expense of those not in the promotion ...

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

@mr_lincoln

    I figured that is what you meant- I was just reiterating it.   About an hour ago- I asked my 14 year old daughter to look up a light switch i was going to list. It was a X-10 Pro.   ALL EBAY SHOWED WAS NAKED WOMAN PICTURES!    They were all sponsored. but then there were hundreds more that were not sponsored also.  # 5 on the list was a X-10 pro device so I know that the search algorithm recognized the X-10 product line.

    Before the cheerleaders come out:

1. cookies are erased everyday now since ebay cant work right with cookies

2. yes - if you add the word light switch to the search the "ladies" do not show up

3. Someone who wants to see the whole x-10 pro product line may not add light switch because there are many different products that work with the system.

4. GOOGLE does not show woman's breasts and vaginas if you search for X-10 pro so it can be done.

5. The X-10 Pro  is a popular and well known product line- not obscure.

6. there were absolutely NO common words in the titles of the nudie pics

BUT - I betcha all those nudie shots were 8x10 photos, right?

Re: Sudden drop in sales May 2022

I average up to 10 sales a week and haven't sold anything for over a month.

Definitely something has changed.
