Some help needed w/an explanation of the requirements of Guaranteed Delivery.

I think I have a misunderstanding of this program and would like some information please.   

Per the stated policy on the site it is suppose to apply to listings with a 0-1 day handling time.

On my listings I have 2 day handling yet Guaranteed delivery appears on some if not all of my listings yesterday, today I don’t see it.  On another account the listing have a 3 day handling time and it is showing on all of her listings, which is presenting an issue as these guaranteed delivery target dates are being missed. 

So if the written policy is wrong we need it corrected.  Or is there an application of this program that I'm not aware of. 

After some testing on the listings on another account, if shipping is separately stated, the Guaranteed Delivery statement goes away.  It appears to be only showing on Free Shipping listings even with a 3 day handling time. 

It also does not seem to be considering handling time when calculating the ETA dates at all.  Well not the handling times stated by the seller on the listing.  I have a 2 day handling time, the other account has 3 days, yet each of our listings coming from roughly the same place show the same ETA.   

A purchase today on the other account would have until Wednesday the 24th to ship [3 day handling], yet the ETA due to Guaranteed delivery states delivery would be the 25th.   Oh and I should add that on both accounts I use Standard Shipping which is 1-5 days per Ebay’s schedule of options.  So clearly Ebay is not considering handling time in determining if the listings qualify for Guaranteed Delivery OR in the ETA dates.  Both are HUGE ISSUES!

I’m aware that when I view a listing that the ETAs stated are based on the zip code in which the account I’m viewing the listings with along with the listings location. 

So what am I missing?  Did something change?  Or is this a glitch that needs some immediate attention because of the serious ramifications this can have on affected sellers.  Both their stats and their selling account health.

Any listing that has an ETD of 4 days qualifies for Fast N Free. Any listing that qualifies for Fast N Free is opted in to Guaranteed Delivery.

The seller with 3 day handling - do they usually ship in less days? eBay usually determines delivery estimates based on the seller's track record of shipping. When a seller has 3 day handling but historically ships next day that would be reflected in their delivery estimate and qualify them for FNF and GD. The buyer's zip code also plays a role in delivery estimates so changing the zip code can make GD and FNF appear or disappear on a listing.

Guaranteed delivery shows when shipping is free and delivery time to that zip is 4 days or less.

Hey, Mam: I have never opted for Guaranteed Delivery but your post made me go look at my listings. And they are GTC. I have a 3 day handling. When I view using my zip code it says delivery in 4 days (how can that be?). When I change the zip to 90210, it just states 30 day returns with no ETA for shipping. Sorry if my reply here isn't related to your post, but it did make me look to see what is going on and to be sure I wasn't opted into this GD.

It doesn't matter whether or not you opt in to Guaranteed Delivery. All listings that qualify for Fast N Free are Guaranteed even if the seller is not opted in to the GD program.

Do you usually ship sooner than 3 days? That could account for the short delivery estimate along with the fact that you're looking a shipment to your own zip code.

"Delivery in 4 days" is one of the marketing statements that can appear on a listing and is no different than the listing displaying "long time seller" or "limited quantity available" or "free shipping".

To see the actual delivery estimate don't look at the section that's part of the pricing box. Look below that where it says shipping, delivery, payment, returns. The estimate will be next to delivery above all the credit card logos and will say "estimated on or before ____".

This is what I see for the candy dish you have listed.  Nothing about GD, however I am in AZ and if you used 3 day handling, I do not see how I would get it on or before Apr 24th.

3 day handling time.

Historically ship same/next business day.

This item arrived late.  Purchase 4/10.  Shipped and scanned 4/11.  Delivered on 4/17.  I got glowing (+) feedback from the buyer. I do not know if the buyer was aware of/took advantage of the eBay GD claim. I am not enrolled in/have never been enrolled in, GD.

The link is refers to two different ways of guaranteed delivery the first requires 0-1 day shipping.  This is also the guaranteed delivery that sellers choose to opt into.  Then when you scroll further down on the page it mentions fast n free guaranteed delivery which lists its requirements which only includes delivery estimate of four days not the handling time requirements the opt in option requires

No because the first day would actually be Monday then Tuesday then Wednesday would be the third

It would be Wednesday.  It is 3 business days.

I'm aware that you don't have to Opt into Guaranteed Delivery or Fast & Free.  Fast & Free is not the issue I wrote about.

So from reading the announcement [that I obviously ignored when I got it], and from the posts here, the only issue is that Ebay is not taking into consideration my handling time at all.  

I get it now, thank you for all the help received here.  I appreciate it.

Yes when it’s guaranteed delivery because of fast and free handling time isn’t considered.   Handling time is only part of it with the one sellers opt into

If I use a Washington zip code, delivery seems to be guaranteed the day after your handling time so perhaps they are assuming that you ship in 1 day instead of 2 and that delivery will take 2 days within your state. If I use a Cali zip, delivery is not guaranteed.

Standard shipping is only shown as 1-5 days if you are using the generic standard shipping in your shipping info. The first class estimate is 2-3 days and is based on zip code.  if you use flat rate and the generic standard shipping, I don't think that they can guarantee the delivery date but I'm just guessing on that part.
