I sold an item that was pick up only. Buyer paid immediately but that was it. I have contacted the buyer numerous times but never any answer. We are over 3 months waiting and storing the item.. There will be no refund as I have had to store the item and loss of space. What should I do?

Well this is the problem with such as pick up.
They can file non receipt of item with the company used to pay: and you will refund them as you have no proof of delivery: You lose.
They have like 180 days to do such just so you know.
Good luck;
Best bet it to refund them and resell the item: also user on your blocked bidders list.

I would have refunded the buyer minus any ebay fees after not hearing from them after about a week.
In other words, I would not have waited 3 months when it should have been obvious waaaay b4 that 3 month period there was a reason, good or not, it wasn't picked up and you not hearing from them.
For all you know, the buyer could have met a tragedy or hardship or illness.
They may have even gotten into an accident on their way to pick the item up from you.
It is on you to do what you can live with in good conscious.

3 months and they never replied, came to get it?
3 months is a long time. I would have probably refunded them in full shortly after the 30 day timeline and re-listed.

Most buyers on ebay do not see that it is 'local pick up'- so they expect it to get shipped.
If you don't hear within 3 days, I would simply cancel/refund using 'problem with address' as reason, then block that bidder.
Also best to put 'Local Pick Up Only' in the title if you relist.

Until the item is physically in the hands of the buyer it remains your item unless you had a written & signed agreement on storage.
Your buyer can file an item not received claim with their credit card company up to 180 days - don't spend your funds yet.

To keep the money would be unethical.
It was our experience that most buyers (more than half) do not realize the item is "local pickup" until sometime well past the payment date... This fault lies with eaby, it is not the buyer's fault and it is not the seller's fault, the real problem is that "local pickup" items show in search results alongside everything else that is shipped with no word to the wise for a buyer to realize the item won't ship...
Speaking on my own behalf, I got so tired of cancelling orders and having to relist (each time is weeks and weeks of item in limbo but at least 6-7 days IF I contact the buyer right away and all that time the item is not getting any better or "newer") that I refuse to list local pickup items on eaby anymore.
It's eaby's loss, on another of a long list of things that don't work the way they should.

One more thing YOU probably still have the title

Just curious: How do you know it' s an item that has a title?

To answer your question:
1.) I don't
2.) but I did use the word "PROBABLY" - 'cause I ain't for certain.

Ownership takes place when it's delivered, not when it's paid for.
You can't charge storage on an item you still own, especially when the buyer has not agreed to pay storage.
On vehicle sales either party can walk away and not complete the sale if you didn't know that. I don't know if they changed their mind or something happened to the buyer but the right thing to do is refund the buyer if it's obvious they're not picking it up.

Let sleeping dogs lay.
Either they come get it or they don't. If they don't, sell it again after six months. If it's a car, sell it now. Despite previous claims you can in fact charge storage, as well as restocking fees, etc.
It's not ethical to waste somebody's time and make them store an item for months either.
Hopefully you had them pay via "in person" type method so there's no issue there. I always do that on in person pickup items. I sold a car once to a guy from Australia who then was never heard from again. So it got sold again locally. Several large items I sold to people who never came for them. Some I have resold, some are still around.

Guess you didn't bother to read the OP since the first line of the post literally says "buyer paid immediately"...

I am in this exact situation. Car sold. Buyer paid. Buyer said they'll set up shipping and let me know. Zero response after. I have contacted them every week through eBay messages with no response. I then sent a message that storage fees will be added each week not to exceed 6 months at a certain date. This also happened years ago with another car I sold. After 6 months of no response I resold it and YES I kept the original money too. Had it happen with (2) vintage Coke machines. Paid. Never picked. 6 months later resold after weekly messages. These fools that say refund, its unethical blah blah blah obviously never dealt with the situations. 180 days is what you need to wait for paypal claims and I'm currently counting the 180 days down.
